Today's International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE) conversations were about the process of identifying and expressing consensus among the international scientific community working on technology issues. -global expert surveys to surface concerns and hopes from across the disciplines. -distinguishing between areas of strong consensus, modest consensus, and no consensus. -formal meta-analysis, large scale systematic reviews, and in-depth gap analysis to surface what we know, and need to know. Great headway being made in Miami, hard work ahead. To adapt an aphorism--science is an endless meeting.

Issues in Science and Technology is hosting a science & tech policy survey to gain a better sense of this vital policy community. Please take the survey and share it with your colleagues!

Yesterday we hosted a meeting of local topic matter experts for how we use ‘rapport’ in policing contexts. Clear critical discussion about how useful these concepts are in practice and how research needs to better fit practical need. A group of critical researchers, early career researchers, and experienced practitioner voices all contributed to an energising discussion. Great work from all the presenters and all who joined the energised critical discussion. I’ll be following up with everyone. Special well done to my PhD student Jamie Kiltie who did a great job presenting work from our lab on trying to make this research much more organic and naturalistic. Let’s keep working to make research look more like practice, and use advanced methodologies to support everyday needs
