ActionAid Kenya has been at the forefront of initiating and supporting women’s movements by investing in their ability to create change for themselves and their communities. We're fostering incredible #empowerment among women through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). Through these associations, we’re witnessing the power of collective action as women pool their resources through saving. These self-managed groups are not only building financial resilience but also fostering a strong sense of community and support among members. Read more-https://lnkd.in/dyRA_iPs How it works: Members contribute to a communal savings fund, which then becomes accessible for lending within the group. This enables members to invest in income-generating projects, kick-start businesses, or cover emergency expenses. By providing a platform for financial inclusion and entrepreneurship, we're paving the way for sustainable economic growth and empowerment in our communities. #ActionAidKenya #InvestInWomen #WomenEmpowerment

#UNGA The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has been taking place in New York from the 22nd to today. This year, the theme for the debate was “Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations.” We were invited to join the event on collaboration and investment in local philanthropy ecosystems "From Commitment to Action", organized by WINGS - a global philanthropy network we are a proud member of. Our founder, Anna Korzeniewska, highlighted key findings from this discussion, which strongly align with our observations in the CEE region: 🔸 International philanthropy is critical for intermediaries and infrastructure organizations to move the global agenda forward. 🔸 Supporting and strengthening local leaders is a key. 🔸 There is a massive potential in domestic giving. 🔸 True power lies in collaboration. Congratulations to Benjamin Bellegy and the WINGS team for organizing such a wonderful event. Congratulations to the speakers for bringing such value to the discussion: Asha Curran (GivingTuesday), Christophe Tocco (USAID), Jenny Hodgson (The Global Fund for Community Foundations), Peter Laugharn (Conrad N. Hilton Foundation), Nancy Lindborg (The David and Lucile Packard Foundation), Sara Aviel (Inter-American Foundation), and many more. #responsibility #sustainability #positiveimpact #impact #socialimpact #socialgood #socialeconomy #valueeconomy #philanthropy #CSR #ESG #impactinvesting #CEE #UNGA79

September 21st was a significant day for GSC China and the entire GSC Network as we came together to promote positive change and a sustainable future, celebrating GSC Community Day. This year, from 8 AM CST in Mexico on September 20 to 10:30 AM CET in Poland on September 21, we witnessed thousands of colleagues across our eight GSC locations dedicating their time to support our communities, the environment, and our planet. In GSC China, we were thrilled to gather 300 participants for a hiking event in the great outdoors, where we immersed ourselves in nature and learned about desert greening initiatives. This event alone will result in the donation of 1,800 saxaul trees, which will help protect 18,000 square meters of soil from further desertification in the desert area. The positive impact of this initiative is profound: it will enhance the local living environment and stimulate economic growth by creating more habitable space. Volunteering transcends the tasks we undertake; it is about the meaningful impact we generate. Through our #24HoursOfCommunitySupport initiative, we have created a global wave of positive change. I am both excited and proud of the achievements we have made thus far for our communities and the planet. I firmly believe in our commitment to continue this important work in the future. #GlobalSustainability #GlobalVolunteering #Volunteering #GSCNetwork #ClimateActionNetwork #GSCChinaCS

Board have a duty to know the organisation they are helping to direct. It seems there are Singaporeans who are unhappy with Gupta's appointment as Mandai Reserves Board Chair, citing his lack of experience in the environmental and conservation space. I am not showing any support for Gupta's appointment but if one looks at the boards of charities in Singapore, there are more than a few who have board members with no experience relevant to their charity (or the sector) apparent. Some positions, like Treasurer, I understand necessitate financial experience so that person may not have the relecant sectoral experience. If the rest of the board had a wealth of experience in the environmental conservation space, that would be okay. A fresh pair of eyes from the outside can help. I admit that looking at the board make-up does not fill me with confidence. A few questions immediately pop up: • Why do they need an Emeritus Chairman? • How does an Airbus representative help? • How does LTA experience help? • How does an MTI presence help? • If we have MTI and LTA bodies, why on earth not one from MSE? • Do they really need two members with land use experience: Lee and Lim? • Not sure what Kee brings to the table. Ah, to have the answers! But those may be as numerous as the Northern White Rhinos or the Red River Giant Softshell Turtles. #MandaiReserves #BoardChair #environment #conservation https://lnkd.in/gqTYvDn3

The Philanthropy Asia Alliance (#PAA), a strategic partner of the World Economic Forum to accelerate climate and nature action in #Asia, is glad to support the Forum's Giving to Amplify Earth Action (#GAEA) initiative alongside a global community of over 100 multi-sector partners. GAEA aims to mobilise multi-sector #partnerships to unlock US$50 billion for nature and climate, to shift markets and corporate practices at speed and scale. Since GAEA's launch last January, members such as PAA have launched initiatives to amplify and accelerate innovative Public-Private-Philanthropic Partnerships (PPPPs) globally. PAA was officially launched last September with over 80 members and partners from all over the world, and across sectors, collectively pledging S$1 billion to catalyse innovative solutions for global environmental and social challenges. PAA also launched the first Asia-focused GAEA deliverable - a climate philanthropy report, developed with the World Economic Forum and ClimateWorks Foundation, which underscored the state of climate #philanthropy in Asia and underscored the importance of PPPPs in bridging the US$3 trillion annual gap for equitable climate and nature solutions.
