🌟 Can You Think Yourself Younger? 🌟 "Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter." - Mark Twain While this may sound like a platitude, there's science backing it up. Research shows that how old we feel (subjective age) can impact how well our bodies function (biological age). In other words, our thoughts can shape our aging and longevity. Robust scientific evidence shows that feeling younger is linked to better health and a longer life: 🌟 People who feel younger often have better physical abilities, like stronger grip strength and faster walking speeds, which are signs of a healthier biological age. 🌟 Feeling younger is also connected to better mental health, cognitive function, and a lower risk of heart diseases, hospital visits, and mortality. Many factors that influence how old we feel are within our control: 🌟 Keep a positive attitude towards aging. 🌟 Engage in healthy behaviors like regular exercise. 🌟 Get enough sleep. 🌟 Foster a supportive social environment. Embrace the power of mindset and take charge of how you age! Remember, feeling young starts from within. Our bodies undergo profound changes over time, demanding not just superficial solutions, but a holistic approach to rejuvenation. Aging is an inevitable journey, but how we navigate it makes all the difference. Understanding the intricate mechanisms of aging, such as the depletion of glycogen in muscles due to lack of rest, is key. This depletion can disrupt the body's natural processes, affecting everything from energy levels to mood and behavior. It's a ripple effect that impacts our overall well-being. Not allowing the body to rest not only affects physical performance but also mental clarity and emotional balance. Our approach at AgeRejuvenation goes beyond superficial treatments, focusing on empowering individuals to embrace their aging journey with vitality and grace. #AgeRejuvenation #HolisticHealth #RejuvenationJourney #WellnessWednesday #LinkedInWellness

As long as a person views himself as bad, less, or lacking, there will be no behavior from which he must refrain, however base or inappropriate. Because when a person thinks of himself as bad in any event, why wouldn't he do something that's bad? (This isn't my idea. Maimonides wrote it in his commentary on Ethics of the Fathers over 800 years ago.) And this is a challenge I see so many of my clients facing. They simply think of themselves as less, as unworthy, or even bad. Some of them have done bad things. I work with teens and young adults who have hurt others. You may say it's understandable that they think so lowly of themselves. Perhaps, but most (if not all) felt that way about themselves before they acted out so terribly. I see it more that the self-loathing caused the behavior than the behavior caused the self-loathing. Certainly once they do act out it becomes a vicious cycle. If my goal is get them to stop acting out, to get them to a place of health, the most critical step is to get them to stop thinking so lowly of themselves. Fear of punishment or retribution may hold them back. Recognizing and realizing the damage they have done, or could have done, or might do may also sometimes stop these behaviors. But health, wellness, a return to wholesomeness, can only happen when people can view themselves as good. Only when they can differentiate between themselves and their behavior can they find peace and really be safe - for themselves and for others. So this becomes a central theme in my work. To help these young men see the beauty within them. To help them appreciate how they are - in their essence - good, even if they've done things that really are bad. And when they can see themselves as good while simultaneously taking responsibility for what they've done, magic happens. #eliavmsw #therapy

Aging isn't something we like to think about, yet maybe we should more often & more positively. In this study, perceptions of aging had a greater impact on survival than gender, socioeconomic status, loneliness, and functional health. In fact, feeling good about aging was linked to a 7.5 year survival advantage. In contrast, worrying about aging and seeing one's self as "old" seemed to get people there faster. While health is impacted by many things, this is one variable we can control. Life begins (again) in many ways in your 50s, 60s and 70s.... In short, own your silver hair, savor the sneaky moments, appreciate time, and as Olivia Roth and I are keen to say: eat the cheese! Your life - literally - depends on it. Happy Wednesday all. Remember to have fun today at work and beyond. Reference: Levy, B. R., Slade, M. D., Kunkel, S. R., & Kasl, S. V. (2002). Longevity increased by positive self-perceptions of aging.
