Great insights from the Teaching section of the Chronicle of Higher Education by Beth Murtrie! The article highlights the importance of adapting readings to resonate with the new generation of learners. Key takeaways include: - Reconsidering readings to make them more relevant and interesting for students. - Providing students with options for assessing knowledge through different assignments or assessments. These ideas are rooted in andragogy, offering faculty valuable tools to engage adult learners and help them derive meaning from course content, ultimately enhancing learning outcomes. It's that time of the year again! Some of you know I am the editor of the National Teaching and Learning Forum, a newsletter that Wiley publishes six times a year. We're entering our summer hiatus, which is when I solicit submissions for the upcoming academic year! The formal call read as follows: The National Teaching and Learning Forum encourages submissions on any aspect of college teaching and learning. Articles usually run 1000 to 1500 words that cover a variety of aspects about teaching and learning: research, personal experiences, tips and strategies for instructors, online learning, instructional design, innovative assignments and assessments, and more. Normally, articles come from faculty, but other writers are more than welcome to submit, including administrators, staff, and students. Instead of relying solely on technical jargon, please write articles with a broader audience in mind, so that anyone interested in teaching and learning can read it. Rather than send in a whole article, please send in a pitch (one to two short paragraphs) detailing what your article will be about and why you are the right person to write it. Submit pitches or manuscripts to the editor, Lee Skallerup Bessette, at [email protected]. Feel free to message me here or email me at my Wiley address with any questions and do please send me your pitches! https://lnkd.in/ecUHKNNm
