📢 This is game-changer and we’re proud to be part of it. 👇 We’ve undertaken our first successful trial of the radical heli-saw – a specialised tree-trimming saw hanging from a helicopter. The heli-saw, owned by Lakeview Helicopters in Taupō, was trialled by us in a forestry block in Kuratau near Taupō last month. 🚁🌲 In just over an hour the heli-saw trimmed 950 metres of radiata pine along a corridor housing a 33kV network line. The trial was sensational, saving weeks and weeks of work and thousands of dollars. This has huge potential to transform our industry by keeping trees off power lines in a safe and cost-effective way. ✅ And with massive forestry blocks across our network, the potential to minimise power outages, especially during big storms like Cyclone Gabrielle, is significant. 🌪⛈ Read more detail here https://lnkd.in/gA_nM_mg. But in the meantime, big thanks to the crew at Lakeview for sharing this technology with us, and to the forestry sector for taking an interest. 🚁🌲🙌💡 #KeepingYouConnected #GameChanger #Helisaw #ForestryNZ #PowerLines

Unimog – A legend through the ages Since its introduction as an exemplary ‘do-it-all’ vehicle in the late 1940’s, the Unimog has gone from strength to strength, securing its unwavering reputation as the ultimate multitasker. As word spread about the Unimog’s remarkable robustness and adaptability, the 60’s and 70’s saw a surge in the ranges of Unimog on offer. True off-road warriors. Larger, more modern, with greater engine output and higher payloads than previous models, and further mounting points for specialised equipment; The ‘Mog was more productive than ever. Today, the Unimog’s unmatched off-road abilities and implement use are relied on by countless industries – from fire and rescue services and powerline support to forestry and agriculture sectors. What's the story behind Dipperfox? How did it all begin? Although our innovative stump crushers are still relatively new, they emerged from our 20+ years spent in the forestry industry. When we worked deep in the forests, we encountered frequent downtime. Sometimes, the culprit was bad weather, other times, heavy terrain. Slight delays summed up to an enormous amount of hours, fuel, and money wasted. We felt that proper tools could make all the difference, so we developed one ourselves. In 2018, we built our first working stump crusher prototype. We gave it to a local heavy equipment company to test. It exceeded their expectations, so they refused to return it. We built a new, improved prototype, which was never returned to us as well. This reinforced our belief in our concept, and we decided to combine our expertise in engineering, production, and heavy equipment to shape the Dipperfox you see today. #dipperfox #stumpgrinding #stumpcrusher

🌱 We are excited to share the publication of a new paper in the Journal of Forestry by our Bio R&D Specialist, Rebecca Downer, on direct seeding in the Pacific Northwest. This study summarizes past direct seeding practices and highlights that the current applicability of direct seeding experimentation heavily relies on present-day climate, technology, and available resources, such as seed supply. At Mast, we combine innovation with trusted forestry practices and the best available science to make reforestation scalable. 👇Study linked below in the comments: #reforestation #seedshortage #directseeding

Hot off the press! Sharing a publication in the Journal of Forestry, highlighting the Past, Present, and Future of Direct Seeding in the Pacific Northwest led by my colleague Rebecca Downer. https://lnkd.in/dtnJBJ6p Mast Reforestation's subsidiary, DroneSeed, is well known for its contributions to pioneering aerial seeding using UAVs and seed enablement technology over the last decade. But few know that 139-year-old Silvaseed Company pioneered direct seeding in the region with technologies like helicopters and seed treatment work in the last century. Please don't hesitate to dive in to learn more, and feel free to ask about the utility of this practice for our broader reforestation challenges in this region and beyond. Note that this paper features direct seeding practices as a tool in the toolbox, not as a penultimate solution to reforestation. I'll emphasize that this tool, along with nursery production, both require exceptional dedication to a bottleneck in the reforestation pipeline, which is seed availability across broader seed zones for native tree species of ecological importance.

GPS trackers are not one size fits all. Fleet managers depend on hardware to get the data they need in GpsGate. The signals required to make decisions for cold chain fleets in Sweden differ from those depended on by forestry departments in Spain. With the needs of global fleets growing, GpsGate stays hardware agnostic to help solve real-world challenges every day. Read our blog to discover more about different types of trackers and our projections for the hottest devices in 2024: https://bit.ly/3HCdOMf #gpstracking #fleetmanagers #fleetsolutions
