You work in a hotel and you have vegan guests staying for 7 nights. You have one vegan starter and one vegan main dish on your menu, plus a sorbet and fruit platter. What do you do? Do you expect them to have the same meal every night for 7 days straight? Or will you recommend a vegan restaurant nearby and tell them to spend their money elsewhere? Or will you tell them that you are happy to prepare something different for them on request? (which is very impractical for both sides + more often than not it creates a subpar dining experience) 👇 Imagine having zero dietary restrictions and staying in a hotel for 7 nights. When you would walk into their restaurant, there would be only a small salad and burger with fries on the menu, along a fruit platter. Nothing else. Any other meals would need to be requested. How would you feel in that restaurant? :) 👇 If vegan guests are still a challenge for your chefs, I am here to help. Reach out or follow the link in comments. Let's serve everyone the same way. Take out the misinformation from big industry, plant based is about better nutrition , taste , texture and as we continue to improve our industry supply chain infrastructure , price will no longer be an issue in the consumer decision tree thanks Hannah Lopez for sharing
Head of Marketplace @ the Plant Based Foods Association // Keynote Speaker - F&B Obsessed - Driving real change within our food systems
Did you know? That more than half of people consuming plant based foods are actually omnivores 👀 let that sink in. Consumers are eating a plant based meal 2-3 times a week when they are dining out. 🍽️ If you’re preparing food for others to eat, how are you innovating the dining experience outside of what you were trained to do in culinary school? Are you listening to your guest? Are you staying curious and trying new flavors and ingredients that are hitting the market every year? What could you be doing better? This is no longer about serving the 3% vegan population. This is about creating equitable menus for your consumers. 🫶🏽🌱 Plant Based Foods Association - Julie Emmett - National Restaurant Association Show - Informa - Nina Curtis

The United States Department of Defense is failing to ensure that military dining halls offer nutritious meals to service members, according to a government watchdog report. The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that the "Go for Green" initiative, which was established in 2008 to label healthy, moderately healthy, and unhealthy food options, has not been fully implemented at many military dining facilities. The report also found that the Pentagon has not conducted the required annual reviews of the dining programs in nearly a decade. The GAO observed issues such as missing, unstandardized, or improperly placed color and sodium codes, and found that dining facility staff were often not trained on the "Go for Green" program. Additionally, planned healthy menu items were sometimes replaced with less nutritious options. Providing nutritious meals to service members is crucial for military readiness and the ability to maintain a fit and healthy force. The failure to implement and oversee these nutrition initiatives puts the health and well-being of service members at risk. #MilitaryNutrition #PentagonFailure #MilitaryReadiness #ServiceMemberHealth #GovernmentAccountability
