The 2024 Summer Olympics (Paris 2024) is taking place from July 26 to August 11 in France. GAIA has joined 60 partner organizations and 36,000+ people to Kick Big Soda Out of Sport! We are urging the International Olympics Committee (IOC) to end Coca-Cola’s sponsorship deal and to only commit to partnerships that align with Olympic values. Sugary drinks harm people and our planet. By accepting billions from Coca-Cola to sponsor the Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) implicitly endorses a world where health and environmental harms are “sports-washed” away, undermining commitments to use sport to create a better world. We urge the IOC to: ❌ Terminate Coca-Cola’s Olympic sponsorship. 📝 Commit to not accepting future sponsorship from corporations that harm public health and the environment. ✅ Accept sponsorships from corporations genuinely aligned with Olympic values, such as those that promote health and sustainability. Sport Transparency Index is a Project funded by Erasmus+ Programm, lead by SIGA and with the overall objective creating the means to independently evaluate and benchmark sport stakeholders in relation to their transparency using universally applicable and appropriate criteria.   In its second year of implementation the 11 entities which are part of the consortium, gathered in Warsaw last Tuesday (July 16th) for its 4th partner meeting. The work and discusión during the meeting were focused on the conclusions of the pilot study (WP2) and the design of the training package (WP3). This work has been led by the FPN (Federação Portuguesa de Natação) and @ISG ( Institute for Sport Governance). Also the monitoring of the project was discussed in depth led by the @UCLM (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha ) #Oneco #FondosEeuropeos #Erasmus

Brilliant case study here - showing the importance of food and beverages at a sporting event, contributing to 7% of overall emissions. Also, it is important to mention that this is something that can be actioned quickly and cheaply whilst interacting directly with fans.
