Thanks PeopleBench for sharing our report which highlights key national trends in the potential future supply pool of teachers through Initial Teacher Education. We also produce reports on the current teacher workforce, and are very interested in hearing directly from teachers to help us understand the current challenges and experiences of working in the profession. Help us capture as many voices as possible by participating in the annual Australian Teacher Workforce Survey. It’s now open in most states and territories (opening soon in Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria). Find out how to participate: https://lnkd.in/grh3cG94
Initial teacher education (ITE) is the foundation for teaching careers in Australia, with graduates being the primary source of #teachers in our schools. The Australian Teacher Workforce Data National Trends: Initial Teacher Education Pipeline series released by the Australian Institute for Teaching & School Leadership (AITSL) examines national trends from 2005 to 2021 — offering insights into future teacher supply and raising key questions. Their latest data, released earlier this year highlights, some trends we see reinforced by anecdotal feedback from our customers and #education industry connections: 💡 In 2021, 29,674 students commenced an ITE program, a 13% increase from 2019 💡 In line with the national population, more than half (56%) lived in New South Wales and Victoria 💡 Most (74%) were women 💡 Most (95%) were domestic and 5% were international students 💡 One-in-five (20%) domestic students were from a low socio-economic area 💡 Between 2016 and 2021, ITE completions fell while the Australian student-aged population grew 💡 Commencements in secondary programs continue to be slightly more common than primary programs Read more from the latest report here: https://lnkd.in/gHumC2wX #buildingbettereducationworkforces
