As airplanes evolve, from the OLD to the NEO, even the branding and marketing has to evolve, to keep up with the trends of today. Airbus has done this beautifully, with their Netflix style, mini docu-series, titled “A330 NEO – The Heir Apparent ”. The first season with 4 mini-episodes consist of key leaders from Airbus, explaining key facets of the airplane with behind the scenes insights about this new avatar of the A330. The videos talk about the improved aerodynamic efficiency brought by the changes to aircraft design, the engine evolution with learnings from other members of Rolls-Royce engines' tribe, the evolution of the legendary unified cockpit design from a test pilot’s perspective and the enhancements to the aircraft cabin and what passengers will see. That’s not all. Airbus is already teasing a Season 2, through a customer’s lens this time. Can’t wait for that to launch soon, especially as the A330NEO already has varied applications already, flying premium cabins at full service airlines like Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic but also flying all economy class at low cost airlines like Cebu Pacific Air. Happy 30 years of A321! 🛫✨ Celebrating the journey of Romeo Alpha, the first Airbus A321 delivered to Lufthansa on January 27, 1994. Our cabin engineer Martin Schwartz has been "on-board" right from the start: He has written all technical instructions for implementing the three cabin configurations over the last three decades. Martin made sure that technically everything went smoothly: From the charm of first class rows in the early beginnings to standardized forward and aft galleys which are still in place today. No other aircraft offers such a variety of cabin configurations as the A321, with doors 2 and 3 positioned forward and aft of the wing. Convertible seats were introduced in 1996: The highlight was that the center seat on the left could be pushed together to provide two inches of extra width for each remaining window and aisle seat. On the right side, the triple seat could even be extended to provide an additional two inches of width per seat. In 2010, the "New European Cabin" was installed, which is still in service today and seats 200 passengers. "Five additional seats are completely blocked because they would require an additional flight attendant," says Schwartz, who also advised on regulation. Over the years, the lavatory in the center of the cabin (aft of door 2 on the left) has been moved, eliminated, and reintroduced on the A321neo forward of door 3 to the right. Ready for takeoff: The first commercial flight of the brand-new A320neo took off from Frankfurt to Heraklion recently under flight number DE1662. Flights to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Funchal, Faro and Samos in Greece will follow in the coming days. The aircraft with the registration D-ANCZ is the first of a total of 43 brand-new A32Xneo aircraft that Condor Flugdienst GmbH will receive by 2029. Following the completion of its long-haul fleet renewal, Condor is now replacing its existing short and medium-haul fleet with a total of 15 brand-new A320neo and 28 brand-new A321neo aircraft. More features and comfort for guests on short and medium-haul routes Guests on the A320neo enjoy brand new connectivity on board to stay online above the clouds. The "FlyConnect" internet and entertainment portal also offers the latest entertainment program with films, series and podcasts that can be streamed via personal devices. In addition, larger overhead compartments with more storage space for personal travel items are available in a stylish striped interior. The Airbus A32Xneo family stands for the most modern and highly efficient aircraft technology in the world, coupled with significantly improved aerodynamics thanks to the wings and wingtips, the so-called Sharklets. With the PW1127G, the new Condor aircraft have the latest generation of engines from Pratt & Whitney, which not only reduce fuel consumption by 20 percent, but can also be operated with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Confession… I’m a bit of a plane geek! So what does NEO mean on an Airbus? NEO stands for New Engine Option. What makes the A320neo stand out? - New engines. - Improved aerodynamics. - Approx 15% more fuel efficient than today’s models with its large winglets, more than 7 feet high. - Longer ranges. - It’s quieter, both externally and in terms of what passengers within the cabin can hear. - Cheaper for airlines to operate. - More overhead cabin locker space What’s the difference between the A320neo and the A321neo? - Size: A320neo typically seats 140-240 passengers vs the A321neo which typically seats 185-244 passengers - Range: A320neo has a range of about 6,300km vs the A321neo at 7,400km - Fuselage length - Weight: A320neo has a max takeoff weight of around 79 tonnes vs the A321neo of up to 97 tonnes - Operating costs: The A321neo has higher operating costs, but also offers a better cost per seat mile - Market and usage But both offer more overhead cabin locker space..
