The importance of water and potable water is increasing

ReliefWeb: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has green-lighted 48 FAO-led projects worth about $2.9 billion –$294 million in project financing and $2.6 billion in co-financing– that will play a pivotal role in fostering a sustainable agrifood systems transformation to end hunger and conserve the environment. The initiatives, benefitting 4.2 million people in five different regions globally, will restore more than 474,000 hectares of land; improve practices on over 24 million hectares of land and marine habitats; create and improve the management of over 2 million hectares of protected areas on land and sea; mitigate 133 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions; and remove 202 metric tons of hazardous agrochemicals. 📖 https://bit.ly/3TrJtXL #environmentallaw #environmentallawyer

Last week was the #EUGreenWeek where John Bell participated to both the plenary session “Cascading water: Creating a water-smart EU economy” and to the Water4All - Partnership event “Water4All boosting EU Water Resilience” on Thursday 30 May. “Developing a system approach for R&I in water to allow technologies to access the market and build the water resilience of tomorrow” was his main message. Last Week, Water Europe held is annual conference water innovation Europe 2024 while the Council of the European Union adopted its conclusions on the mid-term review of the 8th environment action programme, paving the way forward to a green, just and inclusive transition for a sustainable Europe.
