Happy Friday and Happy Printing! 🖨️ 🎆
We've now moved on to our multi-planar testing phase - this piece has successfully demonstrated the potential of parametric speed control for local layer height consideration!
I'm currently drafting my abstract and wanted to share this relevant snippet:
"By parametrically calculating print speed to consider local layer height, we can emulate the precise material output demonstrated on desktop printers on the large scale – in turn allowing a flat extrusion rate to avoid pressure-based implications complicit with pellet-based extrusion."
The finished paper should be available later this year :))

Perfect Sunny afternoon for some test printing! 🌅
This test piece is part of my upcoming graduation thesis on parametric velocity control for non-planar printing on pellet-based systems! (mouthful, I know)
Variable extrusion rates on large-scale pellet systems can be difficult to execute. By nature of the augur, the pressure build and/or loss will always delay the observable change at the nozzle.
By leveraging a variable print speed adjusted to local layer height, we can print with consideration of differing layer heights, whilst maintaining a flat extrusion rate.
For now, it's simple data collection and layer height x speed calibrations - but the funky stuff will be starting very soon, stay tuned!
