I'm redoing my website for making clearer that BeeSafe is a business - not only an information site. The process is already quite advanced and I'm really excited on how it's working out. So, though here I mostly give information for free, #beehealth is my job. I work on three different areas: 1. Science communication - what you see here and on my blog. Where I explain bee health and bee science. But I also do talks, courses, trainings etc. 2. Veterinary medicine - I help in the development and registration of #beehealthproducts in the #EU. 3. And last, but not least, agriculture - doing consulting during the #riskassessment of pesticides on bees. Also this for the EU region. It's all under the umbrella of bee health, which I care about since 30 years this year. And it will all come out clearly, when the new version of www.bee-safe.eu will be online. Very soon, I hope. But if you need help in any of these areas until then - just contact me over the "old" version.

The Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 528/2012) governs the placing on the market and use of biocidal products, which are necessary for the control of organisms that are harmful to human or animal health and for the control of organisms that cause damage to natural or manufactured materials thanks to the active substances contained in them. Moreover, the BPR, lays down rules and procedures for the authorization of biocidal products. This webinar aims to offer insights on how to efficiently plan the authorization of a biocide. Firstly, a brief overview of the Regulation, outlining its scope and implications is provided. Subsequently, the authorization processes, available under the regulation, along with associated fees and timelines, will be discussed. 🥩 Florida is the first US state to ban the sale and production of #lab-grown #meat by law. Its violation can be punished as a second-degree misdemeanor from July 1, 2024. Supporters of the law argue that it is intended to protect traditional agriculture. 🧫 Lab-grown meat is produced by growing animal cells outside the carcass in a controlled laboratory environment. First, stem cells are taken from a living #animal, often from muscle tissue. These cells are then cultivated in a culture medium that provides them with the necessary nutrients, vitamins and growth factors to multiply and differentiate. The cells develop into muscle tissue, which ultimately forms the meat. Due to the controlled environment in the #laboratory, the production of lab-grown meat can be more efficient and resource-friendly than conventional animal husbandry. 📄 Critics, on the other hand, see this as a restriction on #innovation and consumers' consumption options. The introduction of laboratory meat requires the development and implementation of new regulatory frameworks to clarify issues of food safety, labeling and approval.
