Last week, we had the honor of hosting a thought-provoking session with Dr. Philip McAdoo. His insights on Pride, allyship, intersectionality, and DEI have inspired us to reflect more deeply on how we can become a more inclusive and supportive company during Pride month and beyond: 🤝 True allyship involves advocating for and standing up for others. Balancing the role of an ally with the risk of overstepping boundaries requires a deep commitment to listening and learning. By actively listening to the experiences and needs of those we aim to support, we can better understand when to step forward and when to step back. 🎉 Pride recognizes the many ways of being and celebrating who we are. Dr. McAdoo highlighted the progress made by young people stepping into their identities and the need to address societal fractures. It's important to (help) find spaces and communities that validate who we are and boost our confidence. 📈 Focus DEI efforts on systems rather than individuals to avoid "othering" and promote inclusive problem-solving. Measure DEI efforts with both quantitative and qualitative metrics – put some 💜into it! 👊 Real, authentic support takes the form of focusing on the benefits and experiences we offer to people at the margins. It’s important to be patient and humble, understanding that change doesn’t happen overnight. People need time to process and reflect on new ideas, opening the door to growth and transformation. Inspired by Dr. McAdoo and our team, we are committed to celebrating and supporting our/the LGBTQ+ community, during and beyond Pride Month. Actions on our radar: Open dialogue: Provide our team with a space to discuss their experiences more openly and frequently. We will reframe our monthly team coffee chats to encourage these conversations. Ongoing training: Revamp and enhance our inclusion and diversity training programs, emphasizing the importance of continuous development. Our taskforce team stresses that this is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time effort! Community engagement: Actively look for ways to support the LGBTQ+ community, including supporting local businesses. Happy Pride, everyone! 🌟 #PrideMonth #Inclusion #Diversity #Allyship #DEI #CelebratePride

As a People Ops professional, I love seeing Pride Month grow every year. It’s about time. 🏳️🌈🎉 Looking back at June, I can't help but appreciate how much has changed. It used to be a niche celebration and now it’s a part of our culture—so many organizations celebrate it. There’s been a noticeable shift in awareness, especially in the HR world through diversity training, inclusive policies, and visible support for LGBTQ+ employees. So, what’s next for Pride Month? I think it can only grow from here. I see it becoming more in-depth, year-round, and intersectional. There’s going to be a bigger conversation about supporting those in marginalized communities. And if you’re really advanced, you’ll start measuring your initiatives, and tracking impact in fostering more inclusive environments. :) What happens at work doesn’t stay at work—these shifts matter. I’m excited to help create more inclusive workplaces and contribute to a society that values and respects diversity. How do you make the most of Heritage & Awareness months, while still creating opportunities for year-round ERG support? This came up a few times during our ERG Program Manager meet up today, and comes up all the time in our ERG Leadership Community. Thoughts below👇🏽 Context: Black History Month and Women's History month are around the corner. Often this means heightened attention on the efforts and needs of our Black and Women ERGs. We see a the same phenomenon around LGBTQ+ communities with Pride in June...or AAPI communities for AAPI Heritage Month in May...the list goes on. But our communities need support year-round. Here are some ways we can encourage year-round support without missing the moment in the spotlight that these months provide. Some Tips: 1. 💬 Vocabulary Matters: Start to to reframe what your ERG does as "efforts" or "initiatives" rather than just talking about "events." While events are types of efforts, they aren't the only thing your ERG does. There are plenty of ways to have impact through your weekly/monthly efforts like meetings or chat channel engagement (i.e. Slack / Teams). Creating intentionality around *how* you talk about your cohesive efforts rather than just events will highlight the holistic work you do as an ERG for your entire company. 2. 🔈 Amplify through Intersectionality: When it's your moment in the spotlight, think about how to include other ERGs. Not only will this increase your reach and audience, but it will strengthen your allyship relationships so you can plan events year-round with other groups. 3. 📍 Consider Local & International communities: Different locales celebrate their communities at different times of year. For example, Black History Month in the United Kingdom is celebrated in October. Today, Ayana Taylor in our Program Manager Meet Up pointed out that Hartford, CT celebrates Pride in September to create another moment outside of June to highlight their LGBTQ+ community. Take these cues from communities outside of your HQ to create moments for awareness that might be atypical from your internal calendar. Any other tips for keeping momentum outside of Heritage / Awareness months? Comment them below! #blackhistorymonth #womenshistorymonth #ERGs #deib #companyculture

Denver’s Nuggets #20: Coming Out National Coming Out Day is October 11th. Given that, I wanted to reflect not just as a queer professional but as a leader who believes in the power of authenticity. Coming out is a profoundly personal journey but also a brave step toward creating inclusive spaces in our workplaces and communities. As a leader, I know that representation matters. It signals to others that it’s possible to thrive and lead while being true to who we are. Visibility gives others the courage to live authentically and helps break down barriers of bias and misunderstanding. Supporting our LGBTQ+ colleagues is not just about acknowledgment—it's about creating environments where they feel empowered and safe to express themselves. It’s in the policies we support, the conversations we have, and the compassion we show. Coming out is also about family, which is not always by blood for queer people. Sometimes, we must create our chosen family when our blood family fails us, or in the best-case scenario, we get both blood and chosen. You have the power to be someone's chosen family; even at work, you can be the person who is there to support your colleague without conditions. I can’t even count how many work-moms and work-grandma’s I’ve had over my career. To all those who have come out, are in the process, or are waiting for the right moment—you are seen and valued, and your presence strengthens our communities and workplaces. Let’s champion diversity, build inclusion, and lead with empathy. It is Pride Month, and I am thankful to work at a company where we keep the conversation going not only in June but all year long. 🏳️🌈 In 2024, Showpad's Pride ERG will host a special session for our book club, Pride & Prose. 📚 This time, we're diving into James Baldwin's masterpiece, 𝘎𝘪𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪'𝘴 𝘙𝘰𝘰𝘮. It was the most voted book from an internal poll of our Employee Resource Group. This will be the second meeting of our book club, and we will combine it with our monthly activity, 🌈 Rainbow Brews & Chats, a safe and inclusive space where we discuss LGBTQ+-related topics based on short videos. It is a place to ask questions, learn, and gather the tools to become better advocates, fostering a sense of belonging and support. If your company doesn’t host LGBTQ+ initiatives, be the one who changes it. And yes, I am looking especially at you, fellow Executive Assistants. DEIB is not just a buzzword. It is about giving voice to those who don’t always get the chance to speak—a lot like us, but unfortunately, in many ways, even harder. By leveraging our EQ, ability to connect people, and interpersonal skills, we can drive meaningful change within our organizations. Let’s use our unique positions to foster inclusivity and support for all. Remember: together, we are stronger. 💪🏼 #DEIB #DiversityEquityInclusionBelonging #Showpad #ExecutiveAssistants #ERG #EmployeeResourceGroup

**Title: Embracing Diversity: The Power of Love and Acceptance** As we navigate the complex landscape of modern politics, one truth stands out more than ever: love knows no boundaries. It transcends labels, identities, and societal expectations, reminding us that our shared humanity is what truly matters. In a world that often seeks to categorize and define us, I find myself drawn to the vibrant tapestry of identities that enrich our society. The LGBTQ+ community exemplifies resilience, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. Their stories, struggles, and triumphs inspire a vision of a world where everyone is free to live openly and love boldly. Imagine a political landscape where every voice is heard, where diversity is celebrated, and where the love between individuals—regardless of their gender or orientation—fuels our collective progress. It’s not just about acceptance; it’s about recognizing the beauty in our differences and understanding that each unique perspective strengthens the fabric of our democracy. So why not embrace the idea that love can come in many forms? Why not wish for a world where we can all express our true selves without fear or prejudice? The more we celebrate love in all its forms, the more we cultivate a society grounded in compassion and understanding. Let’s not shy away from the possibility of a leader who embodies this spirit of inclusivity. A leader who champions the rights of all individuals and fosters a culture where everyone feels valued and cherished. I may not identify as queer, but I wholeheartedly support and uplift those who do. In my political journey, I invite you all to join me in this celebration of love and acceptance. Let’s create a movement that encourages each of us to step out of the shadows and into the light of our true selves. After all, when we love fiercely and inclusively, we not only transform our individual lives but also ignite a powerful force for positive change in our communities and beyond. Together, we can advocate for policies that protect and empower everyone, regardless of their identity. Let’s dream of a world where our differences are not just tolerated but cherished, where the richness of our experiences adds to the beauty of our shared existence. Join me in this vision, and together, let’s make love the cornerstone of our political future! 🌈❤️ #LoveIsLove #Acceptance #Diversity #PoliticalChange #TogetherWeRise

Founder & CEO at LS International: Transforming Careers & Building Winning Teams, Globally | HeadHunter | Recruitment Specialist | Executive Search | C-Suite Recruitment
Diversity in executive roles can sometimes seem like a buzzword... BUT it is the actions that each of us really take. Diversity is a necessity for innovation and growth. Yet, the LGBTQ+ community remains significantly underrepresented in leadership positions. Through LS Elevate, we’ve seen a rising number of mentees seeking mentors who share their experiences and understand their unique challenges. This highlights a pressing need for more inclusive representation at the top levels of business. In my career, I've observed many underrepresented groups, but the need for more LGBTQ+ leaders stands out. Many brands promote their support for this community, but true progress requires deeper conversations and tangible actions. At LS International, we prioritize diversifying the industry. We believe that fostering an inclusive environment where everyone supports each other is essential for meaningful change. Let’s work together to make a difference. #DiversityInLeadership #LGBTQInclusion #ExecutiveSearch #Mentorship #InclusiveWorkplace #LSInternational

Happy Pride Month from SPECTRAFORCE 🌈 This month, we're focusing on allyship and we want to share 5 ways you can be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community: - "Inviting In" - Instead of expecting someone to "come out" to you, try "inviting in"! Create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their identity. Ask yourself: "Am I creating a space where others feel welcome and valued?" - Have Conversations - Engage in open and respectful dialogue with LGBTQ+ individuals. Ask respectful questions, listen actively, and be honest about your own biases and limitations. - Be Accepting - Acceptance is key to being an ally! Treat everyone with kindness and compassion, regardless of their identity. - Have Humility - Being an ally isn't about being a hero or getting credit - it's about listening, learning, and supporting. Acknowledge your own biases and be willing to listen and grow. Remember, the focus should be on uplifting and supporting LGBTQ+ individuals. - Take Action - Allyship requires action! Learn more about the issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community, confront biases and discrimination when you see it, and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Support LGBTQ+ owned businesses, attend Pride events, and use your voice to speak up for justice and equality. By following these steps, we can create a more inclusive and accepting world for everyone! If you're looking for a workplace that values diversity and inclusion, consider joining our team! Follow us for more updates and fill out the form here https://lnkd.in/gXzfg-zJ to explore employment opportunities. #SPECTRAFORCE #PrideMonth #Allyship

#PrideMonth is already off to a fabulous start, because I'm posting on LinkedIn to share that Impact Media had the incredible opportunity to partner with LinkedIn for the 2024 "Out @ Work" Guide! And I'm quoted in the guide! 🌈 Working directly with the team at #LinkedIn, we were able to explore the real world challenges faced by LGBTQ+ professionals in the workplace. For instance, did you know that 75% of queer people feel the need to code-switch at their job? It's an unfortunate reality, but being LGBTQ+ typically leads to certain obstacles at work that others may not have to endure. Being at a company like Impact Media, I have never felt more comfortable with stepping into a workplace as my authentic self. Our staff is made up of 65% queer-identifying people, which is such a rarity that I do not take for granted. Having LinkedIn reach out for this collaboration was such a perfect fit for this team, and I'm so thankful to have been part of it. 💖 To read my quote for LinkedIn and a glimpse into how I use my queer identity as a skillset in the workplace, check out the 2024 "Out @ Work" Guide below ⬇ https://lnkd.in/gVStZARw
