BITC recently participated in the MOU signing ceremony alongside other key stakeholders to launch the Botswana Air Access project. The signatories included the Civil Aviation Authority Botswana, Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO), the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), Business Botswana, Travel Agent’s Association of Botswana (TAABOT), and the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB). The goal of the Botswana Air Access Project is to enhance the country's competitiveness and support growth sectors. This initiative aims to make Botswana a more attractive destination for tourism and business, attracting foreign direct investment, and driving economic growth and job creation through increased direct air access between the region and international markets by establishing new international routes to Botswana. As the principal investment and trade promotion agency for Botswana, BITC's involvement in the project will enable it to align its investor targeting strategy and strengthen Botswana's value proposition in the cargo and logistics sector. Given the significance of infrastructure development and supply routes under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), direct flights for exportable products are crucial.
