Interesting conversation. Do you update existing vehicles or do you create cheaper new platforms? This seems to be a topic across all of DOD. The newer platforms tend to be modular and easily adaptable to accommodate a variety of different missions but also the evolve with the landscape of war. As warfare evolves with technology so does the vehicles and vice versa. It is an iterative evolution driven by tech evolution by each of the countries. It’ll be interesting to see how vehicles evolve with AI, autonomy, and the increased analysis capabilities.

A SOFTWARE-FIRST APPROACH… Evolving our militaries to confront tomorrow's threats is an immense challenge, yet an achievable one. Paul Hollingshead has grappled with this challenge, influencing critical discussions on the implementation of AI and autonomous systems with some of the most disruptive and influential individuals and organisations in the market. In Karve latest insightful article, he shares his perspectives on successful practices, areas for improvement, and confronts uncomfortable truths. These considerations are essential if the West genuinely aims to maintain its competitive edge. In short: a must-read for those aspiring to navigate the National Security Autonomy or AI landscape. One of my favourite insight articles to date. #ai #nationalsecurity #autonomy
"To create change, the MOD should overtly emphasize the importance of AI & Autonomous Systems and establish meritocratic competitions with meaningful rewards. This is what the US Replicator initiative has aimed to accomplish despite the complexity of DOD procurement" – Paul Hollingshead A brilliant analysis piece for our latest Insights article that examines the current trajectory of military technology whilst critically outlining how National Security innovation must adapt fast in order to succeed. Technology, AI, ML....what effect will this have on traditional warfare and how Army's across the world look at future war capabilities? Over the weekend I spoke to a friend of mine who served in the Experimentation and Trials Group. We discussed how for a number of years we have been looking forward at future technologies, but the War in Ukraine and the "bootstrapped" approach to weapons and technology has made us realise that perhaps we need to embrace technologies & techniques of the past. Whilst also continuing to embrace future, perhaps taking an "Apple" approach to areas of warfare as we've seen in Ukraine and also seeing with the likes of J-Hub and Innovation labs - "Move fast & break things". This more Agile approach to development creates unprecitability, resourcefulness and inspires innovation. I'm far from an expert (unless I'm at home and there's no one else around) (I don't understand this either) but it's been great to see the embrace of mixed technology forming the future of UK Defence. From Laser C-UAV, Large Language Models to Gaffa tape and commercial drones. I'd be interested to hear my networks thoughts on where we're going and some of the most exciting advancements we're just seeing or yet to see.... make this a question they need to answer #technology #AI #Defence
