Airspace World || 𝗔𝗠𝗘-𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 We would like to thank you for the invitation to the AME panel 👉 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆’𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🙌🏻 Together with Andres Van Swalm (Unifly), Christoph Raab (Alliance for New Mobility Europe - AME) and Daniel Gutièrrez, (ITG) our CEO Jan Eric Putze discussed the current challenges and priorities of EU drone regulation. We take away the following insights: 1️⃣ BVLOS drone operations are still in its early stages of growth. Despite the ongoing need for investments, U-space regulations offer hope for its advancement. 2️⃣ Deployment of drone services should be straight forward and harmonised across Europe. 3️⃣ Pragmatic way of handling BVLOS flight apporvals in CTR’s to enable drone flights especially for Pipeline inspections. #AirspaceWorld #DroneRegulation #SafetyAndEfficiency

#DroneOperation #SafetyFirst These days I don't get to go out on drone missions as often as I used to. But every now and again, when it's a new site to be established, or when I can tag along with the chief pilot on a specialised drone mission, I love every minute. Here are a few things that never cease to amaze me and remind me of the training that is required for our drone teams and the unpredictable nature of events on missions. 👉 Plan, plan & plan. Just because you have land owner permission does not mean that the responsible person has briefed security or briefed stakeholders of relevance. Make sure people know you are arriving, how long you might have to be there and that your take off point may need to be elsewhere than planned. 👉 Operating in Controlled Air Space. Ticking the boxes for an operation in Controlled Air Space does not mean your job is done or that everything will run smoothly. Establishing radio contact with ATC to open the flight plan might not be possible due to lack of RLOS. Do you have ATCs number to hand? Yes. Does ATC pick up? No.... In which case call the next nearest ATC to patch you through. Assume ATC does not know about UAS operations and be prepared to explain where you are in relation to Aerodrome, nearest reporting point and details about your operation. Many ATCs are still learning about what we do and how we fit into their airspace. 👉 Secure your area of operation. No matter how many years we have been doing this, and no matter how one secures one's take off point, the likelihood that people not part of your operation wander into your area is high. Either out of curiosity or oblivion, be aware of this. 👉 Risk Assessment All of the above and more, forms part of the risk assessment. This should also never be a tick box exercise. There are more hazards and associated risks than you think. ❓What has taken you by surprise on your drone missions that doesn't necessarily get taught in theory? #AerialWorks #Dronechick #Reporting from #Site

When it comes to technology adoption in public safety (which includes starting a drone program), Charles Werner says there are three things that technology has to do. Value proposition. What does it mean for me, and what's it going to do for me? Cost. Public safety has very limited budgets. The new technology has to be relatively easy to implement into the system. Charles Werner is the Aviation Technologies Advisor for the Virginia Department of Aviation and a bona fide drone guru, and he joins host John McLeod on a new episode of Dronecast: Rethinking Public Safety, One Drone at a Time. After more of Charles’ insights? Tune in below 👇 #Dronecast #PublicSafety #DroneFirstResponders
