Know what adds value to your home… You may end up adding a lot to your property with the objective of improving it, but this may not necessarily add value. Home improvements such as elaborate professional landscaping in the garden and converting your garage to a sitting room seem like worthy ventures to improve your home. However, in terms of actual return on investment, these sorts of improvements prove to return very little. Home improvements such as repainting your exterior, touching up chips and flaking areas has a greater chance of adding value. Hardwood floors and new garage doors are also amongst the additions to your home that increase value. If you’re planning to improve your home to sell on in the future, it’s worth doing your research to know what areas to invest in. Call Aspray if you need help with your property damage insurance claim We'd be delighted to help take the pain from your insurance claim. 📞 0141 278 3621 #facilitiesmanagers #property #propertymanagement #retail #restaurants #hospitality #landlords

When it comes to enhancing the exterior of your home, selecting the right home improvement company is crucial to ensuring the success of your project. With this in mind, several essential factors to consider before making your choice include: 1) Experience & Expertise - Choose a company with a proven track record in exterior home improvements. Their experience often translates into higher quality work and the ability to tackle unforeseen challenges. 2) Licenses & Certifications - Ensure the company is properly licensed and certified to perform home improvement work in your area. This is a basic requirement that protects you legally and financially. 3) Insurance - A reputable company should have liability insurance and workers’ compensation. This protects you from being liable for any accidents that occur on your property during the project. 4) Portfolio of Past Projects - Review the company’s portfolio or case studies of past projects. This will give you an insight into their craftsmanship and whether their style matches your vision. 5) Customer Review & Testimonials - Read reviews and testimonials from previous clients to gauge the company’s reliability, professionalism, and customer satisfaction levels. Selecting the right exterior home improvement company is a decision that should not be taken lightly. By considering these critical factors, you'll be well on your way to choosing a company that will not only meet but exceed your expectations. Your condo association may have rules about what you can and can't do when renovating your condo. It’s always best to review your condo documents and contact the condo board of directors before beginning any projects. Don’t forget to notify your insurance agent when you renovate your home/condo. Most renovation renovation projects increase the value of your home. It's critically important that you work with your agent to determine whether your coverage needs to increase. If a coverage increase is necessary, typically, it is initiated at the start of the project - rather than the end. Contacting your insurance agent should be at the top of your "to-do" list! #ohitsyou For our fifth Winter Insurance Tip, stay in a warm house. A warm house is always good to have. Here are some tips to help make your house warmer: Keep your thermostat set no lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit When overnight temperatures plunge below freezing, allow warm water to trickle from faucets overnight Add insulation to attics and crawl spaces to help retain heat Consider fitting your pipes with insulation, especially if located near exterior walls If you have water supply lines in the garage, keep those doors closed as much as possible Get your furnace or boiler system checked before you start using heat regularly Schedule a chimney sweep to clean your chimney every year Open cabinets in your bedroom and kitchen to help circulate warmer air around those pipes Service your generator to ensure it will perform well all winter These tips will help make your house warmer for the dreaded cold winters. But don't make your house too hot. lol. #winter #insurance #safety #newjersey #warmhouse #insurancetip
