Section 143 of the BNS deals with the offense of trafficking of persons, defining it as the recruitment, transportation, harboring, transfer, or receipt of individuals for exploitation. From today (1 July 2024), #coercivecontrol is a criminal offence in NSW when a person uses abusive behaviours towards a current or former intimate partner with the intention to coerce or control them.
