The end of September was also an end to the federal assistance nearly 70,000 childcare facilities were receiving. Now, the lack of funds may result in these facilities closing. Childcare is a necessity for parents who work. If facilities close, companies may be facing resignations and requests for reduced work schedules. This issue is not much different than when childcare providers and schools were closing during COVID. We took many actions to accommodate these workers, although some may have been more of a stopgap than a real solution. In many cases, employees were forced to balance at-home school and caring for children with work, causing parents to complete work at odd hours, even while their kids were in bed. This meant parents lacked much-needed rest time. The biggest takeaway was the importance of flexibility. Flexibility can come in different forms. Maybe it means allowing remote work, a temporary change in working hours, or in the number of hours worked each day. But, flexibility can quickly lead to burnout as parents may fall back into the “I’ll work while they sleep” trap. This is not sustainable for either of you. There may be other benefits you can provide to aid employees during childcare challenges, such as: Paid Parental Leave. Some states require this already. For those who are in a state without paid parental leave regulations, it may be something worth considering. This is, of course, a temporary measure, but it’s important to consider the long-term. Temporary leave during the times needed most will lead to long-term retention of these employees. Childcare stipends. Childcare is expensive. As a mom of three, I know firsthand. For some employees, it can feel like they are working just to pay for childcare, and the loss of funding for childcare centers may lead to exponential increases in the costs to parents. Helping parents with a stipend can make a big difference and allow them to continue working. And if you already provide a Cafeteria Plan for benefits, this can be an added option that potentially comes with no additional costs. Onsite Daycare. This can be a win-win for you both. Daycare at work is highly convenient for parents, and organizations may receive tax incentives and credits (check your state). Also, check with your insurance carriers to make sure you are adequately covered for any potential liability. Onsite daycare can be a great option; make sure you do it right. These are just a few ideas. At the end of the day, support, flexibility, and a commitment to work/life balance are key to retaining these employees. Don’t let these potential childcare issues surprise you with mass resignations. Be proactive and talk to your employees to understand the challenges they may be experiencing or expecting. Work together on a solution. #hr #hrconsultant #humanresources #employeeretention #employeebenefits #businessowner #smallbusiness #independentpharmacy #pharmacyowner

As an entreprenuer, I am.passionate about transforming childcare services in Zambia. The term 'nanny' is hardly ever used in Zambian society. This just signifies the start of the challenge. In Zambia, ' Maids' are the ones who look after children and also perform domestic work. The job of a maid is given little credit and seen as a last resort for women to earn a meager income. With little and no formal educational training, it is by chance that a family finds a 'good enough' woman to look after their child. Though not spoken out aloud, it is as though an assumption has been made that by virtual of one being a woman, one has the capability of looking after a child. Knowledge of early childhood development amongest maids and childcare providers is non existent. It is therefore not surprising that parents are ever voicing their dissatisfaction of services, always not comfortable and confident in leaving their child with the 'maid'. At the same time, ' maids' living a lowly life, too afraid to voice their opinion for fear of losing ' the only job they could ever find'. I knew I had the tools to transform this landscape. Inspired by the 2016 Lancet series on Early Childhood Development, and with my knowledge of Psychology and the Health sciences, I developed a curriculum framework for a training program ideal for parents and childcare providers. The framwork has been structured according to the the ' Nurturing Care Framework' developed by experts following the publication of Lancet series on ECD. With my team of specialist educators in the fields of Psychology and Health Sciences, we now have a curriculum. As we have engaged various sectors of society, parents and childcare providers have celebrated the introduction of a professional, the nanny; and also the aspect of Zambia finally having a training program for childcare providers. Gala Nanny Training & Hiring Services, a part of JaGala Wellness Srrvices, seeks to transform childcare services in Zambia and also improve the livelihoods of women who will train as nannies, and childcare providers. This is to be made possible by providing human resource services in contractual processes and throughout the relationship between parents (employers) and childcare providers ( employees). The biggest challenge at hand lies with young women who would like to be trained as nannies or childcare providers. The majority ofbthe women are unable to cover the training costs. As CEO, and with my team, we have tried to reduce the training fees as much as we can. So as we advertise for January, 2024 intake, let us know if you can support a young woman to be trained as a nanny or a childcare provider; or a young couple starting a family. I am also open to collaborate as the task is huge as we plan to move forward with Goverment engagements. # For the sake of a child # Early Childhood Development # Nurturing care # Empowering families # Empowering women # Transforming childcare services in Zambia

It’s a snow day and a great day to talk about childcare. It’s a snow day in the DC area, where I live; the “swamp” is blanketed with pretty, powdery stuff for the first time in a couple of years. Many schools and childcare centers are closed. Many parents who rely on professional caregivers will have to take unscheduled PTO or cobble together care or struggle to work from home. But for many parents, childcare is more than a snow day inconvenience. For many parents, childcare is a daily crisis. I wonder: Is anyone on Capitol Hill working today? Do they have children? Do they have childcare? If they do, this might be a great day for them to focus on funding quality care for their constituents (us!) My first child was born in 1998 into a country that was lacking. It was lacking critical care infrastructure. It was lacking accessible, safe and affordable early care and education (ECE). Its policies and practices demonstrated a profound lack of care for women, children, families, and caregivers. My childcare story is typical in many ways: · I was a new mother, family breadwinner, returning to work 6 weeks post-partum, and with no access to an infant spot in a licensed childcare center. · I knew of only two daycares that cared for newborns and neither had space for mine. · I knew I wanted the best for my precious child (pictured below with her great-grandmother), but my husband was in school and so we could not have afforded it in any case; licensed care for one infant cost more than half my annual gross salary. By sheer luck, my story had a happy ending: · I cobbled together safe, affordable care for the eight months spent on daycare waiting lists. · My husband studied at a university with a nursing school bulletin board where we found a wonderful caregiver who also happened to be a pediatric nursing student. · My mother was not working at the time and cared for our daughter on the days the nursing student was in class. · My husband graduated, got a job, a space opened at a great daycare center. It could have been different and so much worse. Little has changed since 1998. We still lack the critical infrastructure of childcare. Every day in the US there is a crisis of care for many parents. Every day, parents struggle to find quality care in “childcare deserts” and full-time care costs more than tuition at some public colleges—while many professional caregivers make too little to live where they work or to build decent lives for their own children and families. I wonder again: Is anyone on Capitol Hill working today? Do they have children? Do they have childcare? We need universal childcare and pre-K. Now. It is critical national infrastructure. #UniversalChildcare #UniversalPreK #ChildCareIsCriticalInfrastructure #ChildCarePolicy #EarlyCareAndEducation #ChildCareSubsidies

Did you know that some social housing associations in Scotland offer childcare or nursery services on their estates? This approach can be very beneficial in supporting residents, particularly parents, in returning to work. By providing accessible childcare, housing associations can help reduce barriers to employment, which can improve the overall economic stability and well-being of families. Benefits of Childcare Services in Social Housing Estates: Increased Employment Opportunities: Access to affordable and convenient childcare allows parents to seek and maintain employment. Reduces the need for long commutes to childcare facilities, saving time and money. Community Building: Childcare facilities can act as community hubs, fostering a sense of community and support among residents. Opportunities for parents to engage with each other and participate in community activities. Early Childhood Development: High-quality early childhood education has positive long-term impacts on children's development. Helps in preparing children for school and improving their educational outcomes. Financial Stability: Affordable childcare can significantly reduce the financial burden on families. Enables parents to work more hours or pursue higher-paying jobs. Examples in Practice: Some housing associations in Scotland have already recognised these benefits and incorporated childcare facilities into their estates, some I have found include: Queens Cross Housing Association (Glasgow): They offer a community nursery that provides affordable childcare to residents. Link Housing (multiple locations): Has community initiatives including childcare services to support residents. Castlemilk Childcare (Glasgow): While not directly part of a housing association, this organization works closely with social housing providers to offer childcare services in a high-need area. It is not all plain sailing though, the reality is that funding and resources are required to pull this off: Establishing and maintaining childcare facilities require significant investment. Partnerships with local authorities and charitable organisations is crucial. Integrating childcare services into social housing estates in Scotland or anywhere else for that matter, will provide substantial benefits for families and communities. While some housing associations already offer these services, expanding such initiatives could further support residents in achieving economic independence and improving their quality of life. What are your thoughts on this?

From Basic Babysitter To a Childcare Expert. By Norleen Zulu Being a parent is the most precious gift life has ever bestowed upon us. Our children are the sunshine that brightens our day, the stars that light up our night, and the rhythm that makes our heart sing. They are the reason we breathe, the purpose we live for, and the legacy we leave behind. In the grand tapestry of life, our children are the most vibrant threads, weaving together our hopes, dreams, and aspirations. We'd move mountains to make them smile, to see them thrive, and to witness their growth. They are our most prized possessions, our greatest treasures, and our most cherished joys. In the chaos of chasing dreams and paychecks, we often sacrifice the sacred for the convenient. We overlook the little things that matter most in their earliest years, trading precious moments for quick fixes. We relegate the most fundamental aspects of childcare to the easiest way out, forgetting that these formative years are the foundation upon which their future is built. It's time to take a step back, to reevaluate our priorities, and to reclaim the art of parenting. Empowering our child minders is a crucial step in unlocking our full potential as parents. By intentionally investing in their growth and alignment with our family's vision and values, we can harness their influence to shape our children's lives. It's easy to focus solely on the tangible aspects of childcare, such as a tidy home and full bellies. However, we must recognize the immense opportunity that lies beyond these basics. Our child minders have the power to nurture our children's minds, hearts, and souls. Childcare is more than just basic care - it's a complex and delicate process that goes beyond mere survival needs like food, sleep, and hygiene. It's not simply a matter of hiring a babysitter to keep an eye on things while you're busy. Unfortunately, this oversimplified approach is often the norm, neglecting the depth and nuance required to truly nurture and support a child's development. We often settle for a superficial approach, treating childcare as mere babysitting, when in fact it requires a thoughtful and comprehensive strategy to foster healthy growth and development. They can foster a holistic development that balances optimal care with quality time, creating a myriad of experiences that will forever shape our children's lives. By elevating the role of our child minders and entrusting them with our values, we can create a harmonious partnership that yields a profound impact on our children's well-being and future success. Let us embrace this opportunity to empower our child minders, and in doing so, empower ourselves as parents to raise a generation of happy, healthy, and fulfilled individuals.

Assessing if a Nanny is Right for You: A Comprehensive Guide Introduction: Hiring a nanny is a significant decision for any family. Whether you’re new parents seeking help with childcare or your current childcare arrangement isn’t meeting your needs, finding the right nanny requires careful consideration. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the essential steps to assess if a nanny is the right fit for your family. 1. Determine Your Needs: Before beginning your search, identify your specific childcare needs. Consider factors such as your child’s age, schedule, and any special requirements. Be clear about whether you need a full-time, part-time, live-in, or live-out nanny. 2. Budget: Establish a budget for nanny services. Research local market rates to ensure your budget aligns with prevailing wages for nannies in your area. 3. Qualifications and Experience: Look for nannies with relevant qualifications and experience. Consider factors like CPR/First Aid certification, early childhood education, and previous nanny experience. Experience with children of similar ages is a plus. 4. Background Check: Perform a thorough background check, including criminal and reference checks. Ensure that the candidate has a clean record and can provide trustworthy references. 5. Interview Process: Prepare a list of questions to ask potential nannies during interviews. Topics to cover may include their childcare philosophy, discipline approach, and how they handle emergencies. 6. Compatibility: Assess the nanny’s personality and compatibility with your family. It’s essential that you feel comfortable with the nanny, as they will play a significant role in your child’s life. 7. Trial Period: Consider a trial period before committing to a long-term contract. This allows both you and the nanny to evaluate if the arrangement is a good fit. 8. Communication: Establish clear communication channels and expectations from the beginning. Discuss responsibilities, schedules, and any house rules you’d like the nanny to follow. 9. Contract: Create a detailed contract outlining terms of employment, including pay, working hours, benefits, and any specific duties or rules. Consult with a legal professional if necessary. 10. Ongoing Evaluation: Regularly assess the nanny’s performance and address any concerns promptly. Open communication is key to a successful working relationship. 11. Legal Requirements: Ensure that you comply with all legal obligations, such as payroll taxes and insurance, associated with employing a nanny. 12. Trust Your Instincts: Ultimately, trust your instincts when making the final decision. Choose a nanny who not only meets your criteria but also feels like the right fit for your family. Conclusion: Finding the right nanny is a vital step in ensuring your child’s well-being and your peace of mind. By following these steps and conducting thorough assessments, you can make an informed decision. #nanny #findananny #miami

PACT is delighted and honored to announce that our groundbreaking initiative of establishing a model inclusive Child Care Institution (CCI) has been officially inaugurated at Government Shishu Mandir on January 26th, 2024. We had the privilege of hosting esteemed guests, Smt. D. Yamuna, District Disabled Welfare Officer and Smt. Bharathi Devi, DCPO. This marks the inauguration of our very first model Inclusive CCI 🎉 While working, we came to realize that children with special needs receives the same care and protection as normal children, such as food, shelter, and clothing. However, these children require much more than that. They need specialized services that will enable them to become more independent and lead fulfilling lives in the future. Without these services, they may not be able to integrate into mainstream society like other children. Therefore, it is crucial for childcare institutes to become more inclusive and provide rehabilitation services for children with special needs, addressing their physical, mental, and social needs. This is why our organization, PACT, took the initiative to create a model within our premises and partnered with a childcare institute to allow them to experience this inclusive approach for over 15 months. Various childcare institutes and children specialists brought their children to receive rehabilitation services at our center. Through this, we sensitized the heads and caregivers of these childcare institutes, as well as government officials, about the importance of setting up inclusive care within their own institutes. PACT will continue to provide rehabilitation services so that children with special needs do not have to go to different centers for their needs. This is how it all began. One of the points mentioned in the section 53 of chapter VII in JJ Act is that ‘all children should receive necessary services, especially within the shelter they are staying in’. We have built our services based on this principle. Our goal is to establish 15 such institutes within the first year, starting now. On this momentous occasion, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Karnataka Government, the heads of CCIs, and the dedicated PACT Team for their invaluable support in turning this dream into a reality. With immense joy, we extend our deepest gratitude to Adhyan , LivingMyPromise , and Motivation India for making our dream a reality! Your generous support has allowed us to establish our first-ever inclusive rehab center in a child care institute. This milestone marks a significant leap toward enhancing the physical independence and emotional well-being of children with special needs. However, this is just the beginning. We firmly believe in the coming years, we can transform a greater number of CCIs into inclusive spaces where no child is left unnoticed. #inclusivespaces #ngoindia #childrenwithdisabilities Pic & video courtesy: Govt shishu mandira staff

With all the talk about childcare centres closing, $10 per day daycare not working, parents having two part time jobs in order to have flexible hours to care for their children and to attend afterschool activities, it's arguably a hot topic in the news lately. Let's talk about corporate Canada and how they can help. News outlets are not sharing this story widely because perhaps in the gig economy where Millennials who have children are finding themselves lately this is not applicable? Hybrid work is "a thing" and like it or not, it seems to be here to stay. What is interesting to us is that the "sandwich generation" have children and seniors to think about now too. How to structure their work day and be available for their parents when they are running from place to place is a big challenge. Kiid based in Montreal has found the solution to not only care for children and seniors but to provide afterschool tutoring and care for special needs children and youth up until age 25. I can't think of a company that does all of these to help parents who are working at home. Especially youth with special needs, they are often "aged out" at aged 18 and with Kiid, parents can rely on exceptional training from service providers who really love what they do. Pictured here: Marie-Pier Hebert, CEO and Founder who traveled the world at her former hospitality executive job, opening restaurants and hotels. Her clients always asked her how they could find reliable childcare at the hotels that they were staying at and of course, they could not. Soon after, Kiid was born. Please share this information widely as we have to broaden this conversation on childcare options to include keeping children with their parents at home with employer benefits such as this along with dental care and semi private hospital beds that help to retain top talent.
Quebec-based KIID comes to the rescue with 7 offices across Canada providing employers with childcare solutions

Balancing the needs of individual children in childcare is a crucial yet challenging task. Every child brings a unique set of personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and needs to the table. Treating them all the same will inevitably leave some feeling neglected or misunderstood. Here are some strategies to help you strike that delicate balance: ✅ Get to Know Each Child: ↗ Spend time observing and interacting with each child individually. This helps you understand their personalities, learning styles, and emotional cues. ↗ Talk to their parents or guardians to gather insights into their routines, preferences, and any special needs they might have. ✅ Individualized Attention: ↗ Allocate dedicated time for one-on-one interaction with each child. This could be through reading sessions, quiet play activities, or simply chatting with them about their day. ↗ Tailor activities and learning experiences to cater to each child's developmental stage and interests. ✅ Flexible Routines: ↗ While routines provide structure and predictability, be flexible enough to adapt them based on individual needs. ↗ If a child needs extra time to complete a task or simply wants some quiet time alone, adjust the schedule accordingly. ✅ Create a Safe and Inclusive Environment: ↗ Foster a sense of belonging and acceptance for all children, regardless of their differences. Encourage them to appreciate each other's unique qualities and backgrounds. ↗ Implement clear rules and expectations to ensure everyone feels safe and respected. ✅ Communication is Key: ↗ Maintain open communication with both children and their parents/guardians. Encourage children to express their feelings and concerns freely. ↗ Regularly update parents on their child's progress and any challenges they might be facing. ✅ Celebrate Differences: ↗ Recognize and celebrate each child's individual strengths and achievements. This helps boost their self-esteem and encourages them to embrace their uniqueness. ↗ Use mealtimes, circle time, or group activities to highlight and appreciate the diverse talents and perspectives within the group. ✅ Seek Support: ↗ Don't hesitate to seek help from colleagues, supervisors, or childcare professionals if you're struggling to manage individual needs. ↗ Collaborate with parents/guardians to develop a holistic approach to supporting each child's development. Remember, balancing the needs of individual children is an ongoing process. There will be bumps along the way, but by consistently implementing these strategies and adapting them to your specific setting, you can create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. ------------------------ I'm MD IMRAN CEO Wp Theme software DM me Or Email [email protected] Let's Make Your Website Beautiful. #wpthemesoftware #websitedesign #websitedevelopment #childcare #websiteagency #Balancingtheneedsofindividualchildren
