In 2019, my new nanny family I worked for had a huge Disney Lego castle whose pieces had all got lost due to a kitchen renovation. During the first few weeks of lockdown, I looked for and colour coordinated every Lego piece in their house and we then re-followed the instructions and found every correct piece. I didn’t stop organising there. Moving from toys to the kitchen, the laundry room the bathroom. What I noticed was that the children’s play was more purposeful, and when they went full on into home schooling, they were thriving because the environment enabled them to be present for the learning. It also made life easier for the parents (and me) I joked to the Mum that I would give up nannying and become a Professional Organiser, and a year later I did just that. Already being trained and experienced in the theory and practice of “enabling environments”, I also did a Diploma in Decluttering and Organising. My second book helps families organise rooms to help children become more independent with life skills and my third book focuses on routines in the kitchen, bringing learning to life through food. I organise rooms and routines with children in mind to support child development and make family life easier. Which room or routine causes your family most stress? You can book a free fifteen minute consultation via my website, link in the comments. #lego #colourcoordinate #myjourney #organise #declutter #sortyourlifeout #system #routine #family #stress #familystress

CROWD SAFETY TIPS PARENTS CAN PRACTICE WITH CHILDREN. It is the holiday season when families visit places that can be crowded. Whether you are visiting a park, shopping at a busy mall, travelling through an airport or on a crowded tour, it is important children know what to do if they get separated from you. Here are some tips to share and practice with your children; - Encourage children to memorize your contact number. This cannot be over emphasized. If in a foreign country with a temporary contact number, you can write it down on a wrist band for ready help if you get separated. - Encourage your children to always stay close to you. If they want to stop to take a look at something, they should let you know. - Let them know to remain on the spot, if they get separated from you. Once they realize they have lost you advise they find a spot so they don’t get shoved around by the crowd and stay put. They should not go looking for you. You would find them wherever they are quicker and easier if they stay put. - Teach them who they can ask for help if they get lost - another mum or dad, uniformed staff, a desk area where employees can be found. - If you are in a foreign place, learn with them simple sentences in the people’s local language. This is very important even for adults. Simple sentence like “I am looking for.., “my name is.., he/she is short/slim/fair”. This helps ease communication with locals. #Childsafetyeducation #fortheloveofchildrenng #kiddiesdom

🌟 Choosing the Right Sports Camp for Your Child This Summer 🌟 As the summer holidays approach, finding the perfect sports camp for your child can be a daunting task. Here are some essential factors to consider to ensure your child has a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience: Qualified Staff: Ensure the camp employs experienced and certified coaches and staff who are trained in child supervision and first aid. A knowledgeable team guarantees a safe and supportive environment. Safety Measures: Check that the camp follows strict safety protocols, including secure facilities, proper equipment, and emergency procedures. Your child's safety should always be a top priority. Program Variety: Look for camps that offer a diverse range of activities and sports to keep your child engaged and excited. A well-rounded program helps children develop various skills and discover new interests. Reputation and Reviews: Research the camp’s reputation through reviews and testimonials from other parents. Positive feedback and recommendations are strong indicators of a quality camp. Affordability: Consider the cost and ensure it fits within your budget. Many camps offer financial assistance or discounts, so don’t hesitate to ask about available options. Location and Convenience: Choose a camp that is easily accessible from your home or workplace. Convenient location ensures a smooth drop-off and pick-up routine. Values and Philosophy: Ensure the camp’s values align with your own. Look for programs that promote teamwork, inclusivity, and personal growth. Trial Sessions or Open Days: If available, attend a trial session or open day. This allows you and your child to experience the camp firsthand and make an informed decision. At our holiday camps, running across 9 venues this summer, we prioritize these factors to provide an exceptional experience for your child. With our qualified staff, diverse programs, and commitment to safety and fun, we aim to make this summer unforgettable for every child.
