It’s absolutely a career. No reason why a tech couldn’t make a good wage and have the opportunity to have some “house accounts” they manage for commission. I had a couple of technicians where the client didn’t want to talk to me (ops manager) they wanted to talk to that technician. They trusted them, spent the most time with them, and already had their phone number. There’s so many ways to structure a package for a tech where they have the most amazing career doing what they want and your company benefits from happy clients. There isn’t a Huge step from technician to PM as far as being able to manage some accounts. You can “gamify” this industry, the careers, and even your business if you want. There’s no rules. Make the clients happy. Make your people happy. Maybe yourself happy. That’s the dish you’re trying to make, you can use whatever recipe you want.

How to ask for a raise as a collision technician

Remember, urgency is created by a sense that time is of the essence. The customer has to understand, “There will be a possible negative impact if I wait.” The three most straightforward elements for a technician to create urgency are explaining what will happen, what is happening, or offering a limited-time sale.

Things I wish I had known as a new operator, that would have made learning my job easier: *In through the eye, out through the vane: this is how centrifugal pumps work *if the above tip doesn't work for helping you identify the suction and discharge in the field, remember that the suction line will always be a bigger diameter line then the discharge *If the pump sounds like it has gravel going though it, it's likely cavitation.
