Totally on board for this! 🙌 Adding fully licensed physical therapists (PTs) into this mix as well. 💪 Likewise, to all my athletic trainer (AT) peers, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of partnering with your local sports/orthopedic PTs! 🏥 When we come together as a sports medicine team, we have the potential to greatly impact the care for all our athletes/patients. 🤝🚀 #bridgethegap
If you're a PT student interested in sports medicine: Shadow an athletic trainer. You'll learn a ton. You'll build healthcare bridges in the community. You'll get to see the full spectrum of athlete rehab from acute injury to return to play. Highly recommend.

Healthcare Business Review thank you for posting! As #healthcare adds increased focus on value-based care, the importance of cash pay options for patients is very important. Cash pay options for specialty and primary care services (such as direct primary and specialty care) offers patients better access and better affordability for their healthcare. Cash pay options can empower patients to seek timely care and have greater control over their options. In sports medicine, transparent and streamlined healthcare experiences allow patients/athletes to not only find accessible care when they need it (injuries) but also can provide options for patients/athletes to stay ahead of their injuries with expert led injury prevention programs. #Healthcare #PatientCare #QualityHealthcare #Prevention #MusculoskeletalHealth #PatientExperience #SportsMedicine
Scott Kleppe, DO, Medical Director, Sports Medicine at Driscoll Children’s Hospital contributed an article Integrating Cash Pay Options With Sports Medicine For Enhanced Care Accessible And Preventative Sports Medicine Our sports medicine programs have significant connections within our communities, allowing us to collaborate with school districts and other local organizations to provide access to programs dedicated to athlete health. Says Scott Kleppe The article will also be featured in the forthcoming special print edition on Sports Medicine 2024. Dear colleague, I live in Magna Grecia, southern Italy and I have studied the history of psychotherapy in these parts. According to my research it seems that the word therapy means care of the soul with the soul (Psyche) and was a skill that the priests in the temples had, somehow connected to the God of medicine Aesculapius. Those wise men had the sacred dowry (hence Priests) and were both men and women. Until the 6th century before Christ, women had equal rights to access all the functions of wisdom or knowledge as men. It seems like a coincidence the fact that in the 6th century BC. the Pythagoreans were massacred and women lost their right to equality. We find some traces of the meaning of therapy in "The Pythagorean Fragments" by Timpanaro-Cardini and Pugliese-Carratelli It seems that the first neurologist in history Alcmaeon of Crotone was the teacher of the teacher of Hippocrates, the father of medicine. Alcmaeon was at the school of Pythagoras who is considered the first scientific music therapist in history (Franz Alexander history of psychiatry). Therapy through music was practiced and consciously founded on the principle of love soul harmony (Eros psyche harmony). It is simple to deduce that Psychotherapy was a connection of love and harmony that dissolved the disharmony of discomfort or transformed it. The God of medicine Aesculapius they intervened in dreams that cured ailments (compare the case of Aristide). The wisdom of being was contemplated in the training of doctors, philosophers, politicians, warriors and every scientist-artist. Wisdom of being translates into Greek as Ontosophy but strangely this term disappears in its culture from 2500 to 1600 when it reappears with Clauberg and Genovesi. So we find it again and in the early twentieth century intuited by Maritan the philosopher, and signed by Francesco Palmirotta. And the coincidence is that Maritain also thought he was the first to coin the term Ontosophy. The French philosopher did not know Clauberg and Genovesi.
Like so many therapists, I love conferences. And I'm so fortunate to help craft the coolest conference for therapists on the planet. And I love it when stuff like this happens... We never get it perfect, and I usually look forward to the feedback about how we got it wrong, but the goal is always to balance education with experience (while keeping it affordable). The research I've seen shows when we're in an open, playful state, we learn better. So we not only give a stage to some very interesting trainers, we pepper in a lot of fun, relaxation, and opportunities for connection through the days. So when comedian Colin Quinn (former SNL cast member and Weekend Update anchor) said he had a brand new stand up special that was perfect for therapists AND he hoped to film it with the therapists at Symposium, it was hard to say no. This was JUST confirmed, and I'm really excited to announce that, on top of 75+ clinical workshops, Colin Quinn will be joining us Saturday evening to perform and film his brand new comedy special -- and we'll be some of the first to experience it!

Are you planning to build a state-of-the-art athletic complex? Don't let sports medicine services be an afterthought! We MUST prioritize sports medicine from the start! Too often, high-tech training facilities take center stage while athlete care is sidelined - leading to costly consequences. A dedicated sports medicine program isn't just about injury prevention and recovery; it's a critical investment in athletes and also reduces liability costs. By keeping athletes healthy and addressing injuries early, we can minimize risks, avoid long-term medical expenses, and protect our athletes. Let's bring sports medicine professionals into the conversation at the planning stages and build a facility that supports athlete success, health and wellness, and is financially sustainable. #SportsMedicineMatters #AthleteHealth #E7Advantage #InjuryPrevention #CompleteAthleteCare #Elite7 #VirtualAthleticTrainingRoom
