This morning I woke up to one of the most harsh and hateful DM’s that I’ve ever received, because of a post that I made yesterday. It was hardcore for sure. I gave him my cell phone number and asked him to FaceTime me, not ever thinking that he actually would. Crazy as it is, two minutes later he called me. Conversation started really rough, but after that we had a pretty good meeting of the minds and he apologized, said he misjudged and that he is in a dark place. We spent the next 45 minutes discussing life, where I shared with him the things that I do to stay out of the mental abyss, this guy actually turned out to be pretty decent. I said he could use my name as a personal reference at anytime to help him find a job. I think we all need to be more understanding and compassionate, as this world has a lot of people hurt and angry. It only takes 45 minutes to make a difference…. 🙏🏻

I’ll never forget the time you spent with me during my darkest moment. Truly woke me up and helped to save me. 🙏

Having some experience dealing with individuals who are in crisis. Letting them talk and know that you are listening can make all the difference in the world. For some that can be the difference between a bad decision and a step in the right direction. Good stuff

99% of people would have replied to hostility with hostility, or (like me) blocked/reported the guy. Result: 2 angry people. You asked him to talk and defused the situation. Result: 0 angry people, 1 possible friendship. What you did is what Daryl Davis does to convert KKK members - https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/mar/18/daryl-davis-black-musician-who-converts-ku-klux-klan-members What a remarkable lesson. This week, when so many people in America are so angry, your timing could not have been better.

Too often we judge others without knowing all the information. You never know what someone else is going through and the effect it has on their life. Bravo for your and their ability to discuss the matter rationally, compassionately and come to a resolution. I applaud the work that you have done and are doing! Keep it up brother!

Guilty - had a scenario such as yours earlier this week. A disagreement with a much younger male colleague. We both walked away upset and hateful. After consideration overnight I approached the young man with an apology and an explanation. He in turn apologized as well and now understands why I was upset. The challenges of teaching the younger generation. I learned we need to step back and think about how to approach the situation in a positive manner to help teach them for their future. Compassion is the winner everytime.

This is why you are one of the best on the planet. Infinite wealth and your time is worth more than most on this planet. Oftentimes people don’t realize the monetary value attached to you giving someone 45 minutes that initially started off in a negative spot. It truly speaks to your character, my friend.

Awesome post, Adam. I can read people well, better than most. And I see you as someone who will look at things from all angles. And that’s why you’re in the position you’re in with life and business. Definitely an inspiration to me my man. Rony Seikaly would be proud. Just wanted to see if you read this far by mentioning a Cuse player from my childhood. 😆

We may not all agree politically, but i certainly respect everyone's right to an opinion. On a related note, we never know what other people are going through... understanding & compassion should certainly be exercised more regularly in life.
