Recently our ADA New York office visited City Harvest’s new headquarters in Sunset Park in Brooklyn. City Harvest exists to end hunger in communities throughout New York City and with the power of volunteers, they take thousands of pounds of produce and repack it from large, bulk containers into smaller, family-sized units that community food programs can easily distribute. 🥕🥬 With the help of WMG employees, our ADA superstars packed at least 300 bags of produce for the community! #musicindustry #musicbusiness #indiemusic #ADA #ADAMusic

The violence, racism and hate on display in Bristol this weekend was horrifying and unacceptable. These actions have no place in our city. The vast majority of Bristolians value community, diversity and equality. But we must do much more to tackle the deep inequities in which hatred, resentment and division fester. We believe tackling food insecurity is one of the essential solutions. There are so many projects in our city that are doing vital work towards food justice. They are helping people at the sharpest end of food insecurity with good food that is culturally appropriate, accessible and affordable to all who need it. This nourishes bodies and nourishes our humanity. Community organisations need our support now more than ever. That’s why we do the work we do, and that’s why we will continue, working with all partners and communities to help make Bristol a city of food justice. We send our solidarity to the thousands of people in our city who are working for more equality, more justice, more community and more love. https://lnkd.in/e4b82mxG

Where we live, work, and play can have a huge effect on our health. Here in North County, we're fortunate to have plenty of access to nature and favorable weather, allowing us to be active outdoors all year round. Plus, many of our SDNEDC investors (including Solutions for Change, San Diego Food Bank, San Diego Water Authority, and Olivenhain Municipal Water District) are dedicated to maintaining healthy, clean, and safe neighborhoods where residents have access to nutritious food and clean water regardless of income level. Solutions for Change is on a mission to address the root causes of homelessness, transforming lives and restoring lives through community-focused solutions. Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank (including North County Food Bank in Vista) is the largest hunger-relief organization in the county, distributing 44 million pounds of food last year and serving an average of 400,000 people per month. Their efforts are vital in combatting nutrition insecurity, which affects 1 in 4 San Diegans, including 214,000 children. The San Diego County Water Authority and Olivenhain Municipal Water Dst prioritize the delivery of safe water to our communities. With rigorous water quality monitoring and testing, providing high-quality, safe water to residents 24/7. Together, through investments and initiatives focused on Healthy Neighborhoods, we're building a healthier, more vibrant North County for all. #NPHW #HealthyNeighborhoods #CommunityHealth

HomeClub looks at hundreds of articles every day. We choose the best ones to share with our readers. This gives you a quick look at what's happening in the home improvement industry. The article below is one we picked. The power of community collaboration in addressing food insecurity is truly remarkable. As highlighted in a recent LinkedIn post by Infinity Exteriors Wisconsin, Infinity New Berlin Team's efforts at the Hunger Task Force Farm in Franklin resulted in an impressive harvest of approximately 3,720 lbs of corn. This initiative exemplifies the significant impact that corporate volunteerism can have on local communities, particularly in supporting vulnerable populations such as low-income children, seniors, and families. By working together, businesses, farmers, donors, and volunteers are creating a sustainable solution to provide fresh, healthy produce to those in need, demonstrating that collective action can make a substantial difference in combating hunger and promoting food security. In the current social climate where households are struggling to feed their families, yet tonnes of edible food is going to landfill, we were thrilled to listen to @jogideon_mp discussing the vital work being conducted by food distribution charities in the UK during the Food Waste and Food Distribution debate in Paliment this week. Ensuring that all households have access to food is one of UKHarvest's key priorities; the fact that so much surplus food is wasted by growers is an issue that needs greater attention. We hope to continue to work with farmers and growers to ensure that less edible food goes to waste, and that more reaches the people that need it most.
