🎩 Sport Science - Bridgerton Edition! 🏇 While at the races, Lord Bridgerton picks Nectar, the odds on favorite commenting that he's "well bred, highly trained, and well favored." Kate questions his "feeling" stating "so you've considered your horses temperament as well as the conditions of the track in order to properly assess its true potential." She continues, "Nectar ran well at Doncaster, but that was a firmer course. The weather was much cooler, thus his size was an advantage. Today the track is soft and it is hot, meaning he will struggle to make headway, overheat and slow down during the final leg, giving Highflyer, a much swifter, lighter, cooler horse, the victory." Just as Kates analysis predicted, Highflyer come our victorious after Nectar faded. Using historical data, athlete training status, and her knowledge of the sport, Kate was able to assess the likelihood of victory for her chosen horse. Sport science wins! #Bridgerton #SportScience

To become a Junior Ranger, you have to embark on a series of challenges that will test your wilderness and people skills. People skills never hurt, right? Also, your knowledge of preservation, history, and why national parks are so special. It's like a park service-themed obstacle course, but with less mud, more learning, and definitely not having to wrestle a raccoon or two to earn the badge. That was one time, and the raccoons started it. Once you've conquered all the challenges, aka completed your Junior Ranger booklet, and impressed the park rangers on duty with your dedication to parks, you'll be rewarded with your own flair, like a badge or patch, a certificate, and most importantly, the ranger’s unwavering R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Ever played in a captain's choice/scramble golf event? I get to do this once or twice a year, and when I do, for the last 20 years at least, it's been 100% registration as a team - with 3 other pre-selected people who build a foursome for this future event. Until Monday. I played as a "single". I know - totally throwing: 1) caution to the wind 2) out all perceived competitive advantage "my team" has 3) comfort of knowing who you're riding with 4) out any ego that I deserve to be on some elite squad of scratch golfers I'm tempted to only register as a single when possible from here on out. Here's why: 1) You'd be amazed how quickly everyone just owns their play. 2) We all start at zero with zero pressure to prove anything, which means we all just play each hole, each stroke with everything to prove, but also nothing at all. 3) I met an orthopedic surgeon 4) I met a GM for a local hotel 5) I met a local brick and mortar travel agent 6) For 4 hours, our team was doing what these events are intended to do - create networking opportunities, create new connections, build a community. But, this is golf. Even if you suck. And, if you haven't registered as a single, or if you always play with "your group", then consider this a challenge to go out on your own, to play with a new group every once in a while. Mix it up. We're so different and yet so similar. I know this - there's miles and miles of fairway ahead of us, but we never know how many holes we might have left.
