If you're a rapidly emerging brand, then you need to partner with awesome brokers to best service your retailers... and I believe Market Performance Group is one of the best in the business!! Here's my testimonial: We love our partnership with MPG. By and large, this team has been so good to us. We see them as an extension of the Cheers team and work closely with them for all of our FDMC retailers. If you're a new supplier, not working with a broker is not an option. New suppliers = too much work for retailers. Those merchants don't have the time to show you the ropes... they need you to get coaching elsewhere. I also don't believe that suppliers should pursue a strategy where they are trying to ride multiple brokers across various channels and retailers. I.e.: "We want the best broker for each retailer—regardless of who it is." It's more ideal to have a one-stop shop for all of your FDMC accounts. This ends up being much better operationally for everyone on the whole. We look forward to seeing all of our partners/friends at MPG next week for our HBC "Super Bowl" of the year... On Tuesday we hosted a happy hour for brand-side Ecomm & Retail leaders at the Acadia office in Atlanta. Most people didn't know each other, but left as friends at the end. Folks from brands like Red Bull, Hanes, Aloha, Reduce, and Kellanova swapped notes on AVN tactics, good DSP metrics to track, and how to get internal buy-in on investing in PDP content. I have 3 rules for these gatherings: 1. Name tags, so no great conversation is ever undermined by "sorry what was your name again?" 2. Cut through the small talk. We have some prompts to get a meaningful conversation going so people leave the event with some tangible learning. 3. No pitching! We're in it for the long haul, not a quick sale. Connecting the local ATL retail & ecomm community is a big priority for us this year. Ping me if you want to be in the loop for our next one!

Confessions of a strategist: Work hard before you play hard. As a kid, my mom would schedule my birthday party on the last day of school. After a half day of school, my friends would come over for water balloon fights, pizza, and Pepsi. It was the kick-off to summer and the parties were epic. During my years in retail, June took on a different kind of significance. Before you could truly enjoy summer, you needed to lock your Q4 strategy + plans. To increase sales volume, capture additional marketshare, improve customer loyalty, maximize shareholder value, and secure a good review and bonus, you had to scrutinize your product assortment and plan how to support it best each day by looking at every tactic, offer, message, and ad placement. If you did it right, it was a grueling process. So here's my reminder: Confidence comes from preparation. There is no doubt that the best part of the year is here. But before you switch over to "summer mode", make sure you're confident in your plans for the second half of the year.
