DOMO Chemicals and BRANO have successfully replaced the entire pedal support plate for a new heavy-duty truck with TECHNYL® high-performance polyamide, replacing die-cast aluminum. The key factor in developing environmentally friendly parts today is the shared goal of reducing CO2 emissions through an integrated approach, requiring commitment and collaboration from all stakeholders across the supply chain. Heavy-duty truck OEMs are focusing on metal replacement and lightweighting while maintaining durability, reliability, and reducing fuel consumption. Petr Škrobánek, BRANO’s Procurement Director, stated: "To reduce CO2 emissions for the entire truck, a holistic approach must be taken, covering all components and their lifecycle. This includes raw materials, processing, assembly steps, and recyclability. In this project developed for a well-known European truck OEM, TECHNYL® high-performance glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide was used to support this trend."

Does anyone have data on bioplastics vs fossil-fuel plastics, in terms of embodied carbon, lifetime emissions, and end-of-life environmental impacts? I'm instinctively supportive of @Client Earth's diligent campaigning here, but would love to know more about how we scale up viable alternatives. Plastics are an essential tool in reducing food waste, and the associated methane emissions, so they're likely to be part of our lives for some time. Can we get by recycling existing stock? Or are bioplastics a necessary component? Paging smart people to answer please ;-)

After green methanol-powered containerships, green ammonia-powered boxships are the next innovation Another important innovative technology to watch on the uncertain road to low-carbon or zero-carbon shipping. There are key safety issues around ammonia (a highly hazardous and toxic gas) according to Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd ESG colleagues. But the future advantage of green ammonia could be ability to produce it at a lower cost and in larger quantities than green methanol. As I mentioned in previous posts, there are still a lot of questions around the future green fuels of shipping, but hopefully we are moving towards getting some answers. #containershipping #lowcarbon #shipping #fuel
