International air carriers' association IATA has urged that greater supply of CORSIA carbon credits be made available to the market to enable the aviation industry to effectively decarbonise, warning of a looming shortage. There is a significant disparity between supply and demand of Eligible Emissions Units (EEUs) under the UN's international aviation offsetting scheme, according to the organisation. As of 2024, 126 countries have opted to participate in CORSIA, which is operated by UN agency ICAO, with the demand for EEUs projected to range between 64-162 million units during Phase 1 (2024-26), depending on traffic forecast scenarios. But the current supply of EEUs is “extremely limited”, with just 4.6 mln units made available earlier this year through the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions programme (ART TREES), which is tied to a project in Guyana. ACI World is working in partnership with the World Economic Forum to bring global expertise to address the challenge of net zero emissions from aviation by 2050. We have made great progress to date but much more to do - see Airports of Tomorrow
Director Global Aviation Strategy at NACO (Royal HaskoningDHV) with expertise in Airports, Infrastructure, Transportation, Architecture, Masterplanning and Business Development.
Today at EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels, Marylin Bastin (European Green Sky Directorate) and Jan-Christoph Oetjen (VP European Parliament) kicked off the final leg (to be delivered in 2024) of the joint working groups from #AZEA (Alliance Zero Emission Aviation). At high level: commercially ready #zeroemission aircraft will be operational by 2035; and by 2050, the estimated global market forecasted value of the zero-aviation industry may top 5 trillion euros. Extraordinary numbers which promise a shift in the #aviationindustry and a call to action by investors, policymakers, innovators and OEMs. During the afternoon session Alejandro de Quero Cordero from the World Economic Forum introduces ideas to support zero-aviation financing 'The Airports of Tomorrow: A Green Transition Toolkit with a foreword by Laia Barbarà and Rana N. https://lnkd.in/eUyjvB-K Vivekanandhan Sindhamani Esther Kromhout Ricky Sandhu NACO, Netherlands Airport Consultants Royal HaskoningDHV Eoghan Davis Gopal Kandiyoor Christine Driessen Inna Ratieva Joeri Aulman Andrea Wu Olivier Jankovec ACI World - Airports Council International ACI EUROPE

The new European Commission can use #aviation to boost EU competitiveness. Mario Draghi's report into EU Competitiveness presents an opportunity to revitalize the role of aviation sector. Draghi's policy proposals, if implemented, could enhance Europe's competitiveness by reducing regulatory burdens, encouraging innovation, and optimizing transport infrastructure. His key recommendations include: ☑️ Using ETS (Emissions Trading System) revenues and grants to support alternative fuels and de-risk investments, for a just transition to decarbonization ☑️ Modernization and integration of Europe's air traffic management system through the Single European Sky (SES) initiative to reduce inefficiencies and emissions. In addition, we believe proposed Transport Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas should prioritize reforms of the EU 261 consumer regulation and strengthen the regulation of airport and air navigation services charges. We had the privilege of attending the ICAO Workshop on Airports and Air Navigation Services Charges, hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar. Our Head of Middle East and Economics, Ilia Lioutov, called for more effective economic regulation strategies that can enable socio-economic growth, sustain operational excellence, and meet future capacity needs while maintaining a sustainable, competitive aviation ecosystem. The workshop gathered key regulators and industry stakeholders, including International Air Transport Association (IATA), CANSO, Arab Air Carriers Organization, and regional Civil Aviation Authorities, to discuss the complexities of airport economics across the Middle East. THE PARTS IATA CANNOT REACH IN MAKING AIRLINES MORE SUSTAINABLE AND CUSTOMER-DRIVEN IATA made a number of interesting recommendations for the new European Commission. But in line with competition regulation it cannot address the role of airline pricing in enabling customers making more emission-friendly choices for their journeys from Origin to Destination. New European Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas and colleagues, may be the only authorities to address this ‘elephant in the room’: Find a (new) balance between sustainability and competition by regulating that airlines can not price longer, circuitous and higher-emission transfer-journey options lówer than shorter direct/non-stop and lower-emission journey-options. In line with the DMA/DSA regulations, which also apply to BigTech from outside the EU, this proposed regulation can also apply to non-EU airlines that want to do business from, to or within the EU, and hence ensures a level playing field.

Airfield Operations , Flight Safety Officer. Ground Flight Safety/Apron Management Supervisor, SMS,RTF, HF, ERM, and Personnel management.
“One of the quick wins in reducing emissions is flying the latest generation aircraft. In 2017, 5% of the fleet worldwide was new generation. By 2019, that increased to 13%, and in 2022, of all the fleet flying worldwide, 25% was the latest generation. These are the aircraft that are bringing in the most of the best fuel standards. Meanwhile, 23% of the incidence fleet in Africa is latest generation among others.” At 23% we are not doing bad , we all need it, embracing new Technology advancement in the aviation Africa must be a hub of new generation of fleet to compete Equally with the source.
