Drives better innovation, talent management and productivity by building cognitively inclusive cultures - a mix of thinking styles - using inspiration from neurodivergence inclusion.
https://lnkd.in/e5DmXg7E Marie-Pierre’s question is thought-provoking. My answer is that both “other people” and the autistic person in @Chris Bonnello's illustration should be developing skills to understand and be easier to understand by others. Speaking more clearly, pausing more often and for a bit longer, and not using metaphors or sarcasm (or, if you must, saying when you are about to and then translating it) are a few steps that “other people” can take to help others to understand them better. This doesn’t only help autistic people, but those speaking another language. (See the first comment for a link to an article where I wrote more about this.) But it is not fair is the effort is one way. Autistic people can also upskill in communication, and if they feel comfortable tell others that they find social comunication difficult or impossible (again, useful for those from other cultures where gestures may mean something different). I know it is not easy (I help my son to learn this every day) but neither are changes of habits for “other people”. The best, and most fair solution is for everyone to improve their communication habits a bit. --- Take back control of your LinkedIn feed.
