The opening session for day two of the Building an Advanced Energy Ecosystem in New Mexico conference kicked off today with a fireside chat between the amazing Mary Monson with Sandia National Laboratories and Marcos Gonzales Harsha with the DOE Office of Technology Transitions, discussing opportunities, important programs, and acceleration of commercialization. My favorite quotes: ➡️ “The energy economy is the innovation economy.” Marcos, along with sharing why he always tells people to take a look at New Mexico. ➡️ “Pound for pound, we punch above our weight.” Mary, talking about the special ecosystem that exists here and the assets that can be harnessed to enhance our state’s role in the global energy economy.

Congrats to Jerry Prochazka and the team at Ganymede Games! I remember when the company was first considering New Mexico and their long-term vision for game development here…so cool to see that come to fruition and the company’s success here. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Day one of Building an Advanced Energy Ecosystem in New Mexico conference, hosted by Representative Meredith Dixon and New Mexico Women Lead. Our state is uniquely positioned to lead in the energy transition, and advanced energy is a key economic growth area. Today we talked about topics such as climate tech startups, next steps for nuclear, grid resilience, clean fuels, geothermal, emerging technologies, and my favorite - the water-energy nexus. A common thread for all? The need for data-informed strategy and putting technology to work. It’s always great to be in the room with amazing, smart women: Rhiannon Samuel, Sydney Lienemann, PhD, Nora Meyers Sackett, Jessie Lane Hunt, Deanna Archuleta, Carrie Freeman in particular!

When we were in college at the University of Arizona, Faham Zakariaei taught me a lot about how creating a great experience and a community of interest for people makes or breaks your ability to capture their attention and get them to buy in to what you want them to know/learn/buy. His brilliance is all over the San Francisco Giants events and this one in particular is really cool. Check out the article posted here 👇 in Rolling Stone. 💡 Zakariaei, the Giants’ senior director of promotions, remembered the first Jerry Garcia Night the team hosted in 2010. People told him, Hey, the Grateful Dead doesn’t make sense with baseball. “But what we learned is,” Zakariaei says, “it’s not really about baseball; it’s about our community. It brings so many different walks of life together. What’s the saying in the Dead community? We are everywhere. It really does stand true.”

It was such an honor to get to participate in Central New Mexico Community College’s convocation last week! CNM is an incredible community partner, focused not only on learners and workforce development, but also its role in economic development and as an employer of choice that cares about and cultivates its culture. I’m grateful to get to work with such amazing CNM leaders throughout my career in New Mexico.
