"Creating and managing a diverse workforce is a process, not a destination." -R. Roosevelt Thomas, Jr. Diversity equity and inclusion have been a global topic of discussion, and organizations implement various policies and training programs to bring DEI into practice. As an HR Student, it's essential to understand that DEI starts within oneself. Thus, I got an opportunity to present this ideology to my class as a part of a professionalization seminar; I feel grateful for the opportunity to address DEI in class. I would like to thank VIjaya R for her constant support. The session was all about understanding that the change we wish to see will never occur until we implement it within ourselves. Having this as the underlying factor, the discussion was carried out, with the help of a TED talk by Ms.Caren Taylor, on the topic: Belonging- A Critical part od Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, where many insights into how unconscious biases can be understood, how DEI can be implemented in the small scale industries, how can we foster the sense of belonging within the workspace were discussed.
