Back in April, we hosted our Leadership Development Fair 🎡. And oh my, were there some big learnings! Throughout the week, we explored 9 unique real-world case studies and topped things off with a roundtable for our fellows to distill our thoughts. We discussed the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of leadership development, debunked common myths, and came away with some hot new takes. Impactful quote from this morning’s CREW Network executive leadership training by Rob Salafia: “Every exit is an entrance to somewhere else.” While usually I’d hear this message as seeing opportunities through darkness, the message in the corporate world opens doors for a deeper meaning. In a literal sense, the end of each meeting could be an entrance to the walk down the hall with coworkers as you leave the room. A door opening to deeper engagement and not close a book, but turn the page. The transition from one meeting to another, from one room to the next, can be reframed as an entrance to a new interaction. Transitions are important, and each holds the opportunity to be treated as the most important piece of the day 💡

I love workshops. Especially the small, super specific, personalized kinds. The people leaders at Harvard Business Publishing recently underwent a two day workshop to learn how to lead teams, help their employees realize their potential, understand what employees expect from leaders and the dilemmas we face while making decisions, and learn more about our own leadership styles. It was an engaging, immersive, and informative session led by Shilpa Jagga. My key learning was around giving feedback -- something we all dread and are never taught how to. Shilpa made us play out real-life conversations in pairs. Having our colleagues listen, observe, and give feedback on what went right or wrong in those conversations was eye opening.
