I can only describe them as smart, dedicated, determined, helpful, and they challenged me to up my game. Along the way, I have incorporated that wisdom and guidance into my own professional approach. Those lessons became the basis for my latest book. For all of you that gave me that support, guidance, and occasional kick in the pants, thank you. The Little Book of Big Ideas for Construction Professionals (And Those Who Work With Them) is a collection of sage advice, best practices, and good old reminders about how to be successful in what can be a tough industry. In the process of completing this book, I want to give a special thanks to Edison Cassels for taking the time to read the book, give his impressions, and provide a testimonial. It is a honor and a privilege to have worked with him on the #carolinasAGC Construction Business Academy and for his affirmation of this book and our collective efforts to elevate and support our industry and colleagues. Thanks also goes to my biggest advocate, partner, and wife, Deborah for pushing me to believe I could be a writer and to get outside my comfort zone (where the growth and magic happen). #construction #constructionindustry #professionaldevelopment #womeninconstruction #nawic #leadership #professionalgrowth #constructioncareers #mccei #agc https://lnkd.in/eBdmkNi7

Proudly leading a diverse high performing team into the future of work while designing and implementing departmental efficiency and productivity strategies.
Life lessons from the construction site. Building a beautiful roof and caring first for the top (or we as leaders) first, is a waste of time. Start with a proper foundation. Imagine building that beautiful roof and second story then trying to place it on a poorly constructed /maintained foundation or frame. Disaster. Build it properly and first care for those that are your core, your foundation, your frame. Many of us in leadership forget that. (pic from my latest construction project)

The role of an #owner's representative is to serve as the project leader, to #strategize and #manage all facets of a #construction project in accordance with the owner's goals. That #leadership is vital. The owner's representative arms the owner with unbiased and #objective #information so the owner can make informed decisions. Mistakes are costly. Time. Budget. An experienced owner’s rep knows about construction, budget management, #compliance and more. Currently, Anser Advisory manages $2 billion in construction projects using all those skills and more. #ownersrep #ownersrepresentative #publicinterest #accountability Texas AWWA Texas City Management Association Florida League of Cities Florida Association of Counties Texas Association of Counties https://lnkd.in/e8PWxn8r
