OOHHHH this is a good one ❗ ❗ ❗ I recently had an interview with a well-known tech company (that shall remain nameless) 🙊 The HR rep shared how he was close to retirement and how many years he had been with this company. He then asked me about my goals and aspirations and I was quite excited to share them. 🤩 He then tilted his head in confusion and asked me, "Why are you so ambitious? Do you think you are being realistic about all these projects you have in mind?" My eyes widened, I was caught off guard. 👀 I wasn't sure how he meant it at first 🤔, but his tone said it all. Out of respect, I smiled and said, "I believe there is nothing wrong with ambition, the bigger you dream the further you'll push. Everyone is different; not everyone is satisfied with just a 9-5 until retirement." He smirked awkwardly and nodded. Safe to say... I didn't get a callback. 🤣 I never understood people's lack of ambition and self-imposed limitations. Don't get me wrong, we all deal with imposter syndrome every now and then... but to go on with life with what-ifs and NOT do something out of fear or "we just need to survive" mentality makes ME tilt my head in confusion. 🙃 DREAM BIG 🎰 - DREAM LOUD 📣 Talking about your goals and aspirations can be uncomfortable, especially when talking to people who don't understand. People might tilt their heads and wonder why you? But ask yourself WHY NOT YOU?! You are capable, you are smart, you are ambitious and that's #greatness.
