Fitout specialist Deanestor has been awarded its 13th school FF&E project for Robertson Construction Tayside (Robertson Group) — a £3.8m contract for the new East End Community Campus in Dundee. Due to open in August 2025, the £100m campus for Dundee City Council, designed by Holmes Miller to Passivhous standards, will cater for 1,900 pupils and will replace two high schools — Craigie High School and Braeview Academy. The project is being delivered under Procurement Hub, Major Projects Framework 2 (MPF2). Deanestor will fit out over 300 rooms across the new three-storey campus, providing more than 4,000 items of loose and fitted furniture. Ramsay McDonald, Managing Director for Deanestor in Scotland says: "This project really demonstrates Dundee City Council’s commitment to the community, to education attainment and to addressing climate change. We welcome the opportunity to work as a partner of choice to both Robertson and Procurement Hub, and are looking forward to contributing to the delivery of another really high-quality, multi-use campus. We are in no doubt that these facilities will make a tremendous difference to the local community in Dundee and to city-wide education and sport." Councillor Stewart Hunter, Convenor for Children, Families and Communities at Dundee City Council, comments: "The East End Campus will be more than a school — it will be a focus for the whole community and will be accessible and inclusive. This campus will help the future prospects of young people and the community to thrive. It is the single most important investment in our city’s future and delivery of the campus will allow us to improve educational and community facilities and tackle significant challenges of poverty." https://lnkd.in/e-cWPXbZ #fitoutcontract #fitout #education #schools #newcampus #newcontract #schoolfurniture #council #constructioncompany #architect #passivhaus #sustainability

We have now completed the installation phase for 121 steel-framed, 8m long modules on our site at 31 High Street in Southampton. Weighing up to 12 tonnes, each module contained a single student apartment and arrived on site completely finished, with kitchenettes, shower rooms, fitted and loose furniture, flooring, doors, and glazing already in place. The studio apartments were lifted into position over a six-week installation phase and using a 230-tonne crane. Dan Smith, COO of Stelling Properties commented: “31 High Street has been a hugely challenging and constrained site to develop. It demonstrates the enormous potential of offsite construction and our technical capabilities very well.” “The site is completely enclosed on three sides, which would have been extremely difficult for in-situ construction as there is no storage space for plant, materials or equipment.” “This high-profile project follows another modular student scheme that we have already delivered on Southampton High Street, and we are about to start a third. These developments are an important part of the regeneration of the city centre.” The new student accommodation will be operated by Unilife Student Living. 👑 A House Fit for a King: Charles Tours His Boldest Sydney Project! 🚧 King Charles III has toured the Prince’s Quarter in Sydney, a groundbreaking social housing initiative developed with Anthony Albanese and Chris Minns. This ambitious project, featuring construction from cross-laminated timber, represents a significant step towards sustainable urban living and community support. 🔎 What You Need to Know: 1️⃣ Innovative Social Housing: The Prince's Quarter will provide 75 new apartments and terrace houses in the inner-city suburb of Glebe, making it Sydney’s largest social housing project in decades. The use of cross-laminated timber and glulam promotes sustainability and aligns with the King’s advocacy for low-carbon construction. 2️⃣ Empowering Young Australians: King Charles met young Australians engaged in the project during his visit, including First Nations apprentices and aspiring builders. This initiative highlights the importance of providing opportunities for youth while supporting sustainable development in urban areas. 3️⃣ Commitment to Sustainability: This project utilises over 2,500 cubic meters of locally sourced timber, supplied by XLam. The timber is expected to sequester 1,860 tonnes of carbon, showcasing how sustainable practices can significantly impact climate change. 🔗 To learn more about this ambitious project and its potential impact on social housing in Australia, click here: https://lnkd.in/gVKw5Gq4 🗣️ #questionforgroup: How can we further integrate sustainable materials and practices in social housing projects to enhance community resilience? Closing out our week with some wonderful news... 🎉 Planning permission secured for a 619-bed, purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme with additional light industrial floorspace in Wembley on behalf of YourTRIBE. The proposal provides buildings of 27, 21, 18, and 6 storeys, with significant public realm improvements which will contribute to the ongoing regeneration of Wembley town centre. The development will assist in contributing to much-needed housing and within this vibrant regeneration area. Key issues addressed included justifying the need for student accommodation in Brent and demonstrating that the proposed buildings would have an acceptable impact on the protected views of the Wembley Stadium arch and the emerging Wembley townscape. Due consideration was given to ensuring the scheme complements the established wider Masterplan for the area. This permission adds to ROK Planning’s successful track record and experience in London Borough of Brent. Credit to Stantec for the design and 'The Visualiser Ltd.' for the photomontages. Interesting approach to student accommodation. For many it's their first time living alone, and I think something like this could make the transition a little more fun. Redevelopment will provide a whopping 265 student bedrooms, 24 affordable homes and nearly 900m² of ground-floor commercial space. However, the roundhouse is a listed building, and demolition of surrounding buildings could cause moderate harm to the setting of the 1840s venue. What do you think of the proposed plans? #architecturejobs #studentaccommodation #mustardjobs #architecture https://lnkd.in/eNJv4e8s

The recent Explore Offsite Awards shone a spotlight on our latest student living scheme – 31 High Street in Southampton, which received two industry awards, including the coveted Winner of Winners Award. 🌟 This scheme is a pioneering regeneration project in Southampton, which represents a £12m investment by Stelling to develop a prominent and highly constrained city centre site using advanced modular technology. 🏗 The original listed stone façade of the former Bank of England building has been restored and a five-storey modular extension has provided 121 high specification, self-contained studio apartments to help meet the critical undersupply of student accommodation in the city. Jose Ignacio Alvarez, our Founder and Executive Chair: “31 High Street demonstrates the enormous potential of our offsite construction solutions and the technical capabilities of our teams – from architectural design to manufacturing, offsite fitout and on-site refurbishment of a locally listed building." “This site is completely enclosed on three sides and would have been extremely difficult to develop using traditional construction methods.” “To deliver a scheme of this scale in just a few months and to such high quality, sustainability, energy efficiency and architectural standards, is an incredible achievement." “It also showcases really well how offsite construction can be applied to regeneration and refurbishment schemes, as well as to new build residential developments.” Read more here - https://lnkd.in/e6q9xXTd #studentaccommodation #mmc #offsite #offsiteawards #residential #studentliving
