Have a customer on hold? 📞 That’s a big opportunity to engage: 68% of consumers are more likely to purchase from a brand that is thoughtful about what they use for hold music/audio. Simply put, the hold experience matters. Per Veritonic’s study, 9 in 10 consumers prefer music 🎶 over a talking advertisement and silence. If given a choice between an ad that contains talking or silence, 57% would choose talking. That’s not all - 46% say it’s important for the hold music to be “on brand” with the company or service they’re calling about. If the hold music is enjoyable, most consumers (82%) will hold for longer. So what does enjoyable mean? 73% of consumers say top-50 charted songs, while 86% of consumers prefer that the hold song be one they recognize. If you’re running a business and want to retain your customers through a potentially lengthy hold wait, this is the way to go. The other day I made an Instagram post about Knowing what you're paying for when dealing with the Marketing aspect of the Music Journey. So many Indie Music Artists suffer after investing money because they don't have a full understanding of what's supposed to happen after spending the money. Some feel scammed and some feel like it was a waste of money but other times it could just be a lack of knowledge and goals. To make the Marketing task easier I find it helpful when Goals are mapped out and the expectation isn't Fame or Virality. It's important to understand that while it's not impossible to accomplish Fame and Virality when planning a Marketing campaigh the focus should be more on reaching and engaging an audience who wants to stay connected to you.
