The latest climate science makes it clear - to avoid the most catastrophic impacts of climate change, we must limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Getting there will require drastically cutting emissions across all sectors, and electrifying transportation is key. Transportation accounts for ~25% of global emissions. Shifting to electric vehicles (EVs) powered by clean electricity offers a massive solution - but it will take an industrial transformation. This transition represents an incredible economic opportunity to create millions of new, well-paying jobs across the EV value chain - from mining and materials, to battery and vehicle manufacturing, charging infrastructure, and recycling. I'm excited about the work we're doing at SAE International to help build the skilled workforce to power this transition. Our Battery Academy provides comprehensive training on EV battery engineering, manufacturing, testing and more. By training workers with cutting-edge battery know-how, we can accelerate transportation electrification while creating rewarding careers. The path to keeping warming below 1,.5°C won't be easy, but the growth of the EV industry is an inspiring example of how tackling climate change creates attractive economic opportunities. Today I addressed an important event on Advanced Materials happening in Bergamo, Italy. Here are a few thoughts I’d like to share with you.   ❗ Advanced Materials are of strategic importance for Europe (think about the goals of green and digital transitions and Europe's competitiveness and sovereignty). Given the intensifying global competition we need to act fast. 🎡   The Commission Communication: “Advanced Materials for Industrial Leadership” points to a fragmentation of R&I programmes and call for a better coordination between the Commission and EU countries. COMING SOON - To follow up on this we will create a Technology Council for Advanced Materials to align priorities across Europe and create synergies between EU and national programmes. We will soon publish a call for applications in this regard. 💶 To leverage public funding and mobilise private investments, we are currently setting up the new partnership ‘Innovative Advanced Materials for Europe – IAM4EU’. 💪 In a strong, competitive materials ecosystem innovation will arrive faster to market and advanced materials are designed according to industrial needs. 🤝 Working together will build Europe's industrial leadership in advanced materials. 👉 https://europa.eu/!NbNVy8

How would you feel if someone were to invent a weapon that can stop all the wars in the world? It’d be pretty useful, especially in such turbulent times. This was Weiyu’s answer when asked what she would like or have liked to invent. A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Poitiers - ENSI Poitiers with an engineering degree in industrial energy, Urbanomy’s Consultant Manager Weiyu WANG began exploring France by heading for the southwestern corner, upon arriving from her native China. In Auch, she obtained a University Degree in Technology, specialised in Hygiene, Security and Environment, from the IUT Paul Sabatier - Toulouse, Auch, Castres. She then took her first job as an energy efficiency engineer with Actemium. After a little more than a year there, she was offered a job at IDEX as Energy saving certificates Project Manager. Energy-saving certificates, or CEE in French, are a national scheme that obliges energy suppliers to finance improvements in energy efficiency. But there’s a lot more to know about Weiyu than her track record in the energy industry! Her vision of a perfect dinner, for instance, would bring together Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Steve Jobs and the president of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa. "Three persons," Weiyu says, "who brought us a lot of imagination and joy." Weiyu’s motto? Thinking through a decision before making it, which is her way of ensuring that she never regrets it.
