Highly Recommended 📖: "Skunk Works" by Ben Rich Skunk Works is more than just a division of Lockheed Martin; it's a symbol of top-notch innovation. This team was behind the creation of legendary aircraft such as the F-117A, SR-71, F-22, and F-35. I had an opportunity to meet a retired LM engineer here in Barcelona, and his stories were incredible (even though he mentioned "sorry that's classified" a lot 😆). Here are some key lessons from the book that I believe are crucial for anyone in any field, not just aerospace: Autonomy Leads to Innovation: Skunk Works operated with great independence, which allowed for quick decisions and swift action. This level of autonomy, combined with a clear focus, propelled innovation to new heights. Embrace Risk: Innovation is inherently risky. Skunk Works' story shows the value of embracing calculated risks and learning from setbacks instead of being hindered by them. Small Teams Can Achieve Great Things: The belief that compact, focused teams can accomplish massive achievements is central to Skunk Works' approach. This setup encourages creativity, speed, and personal responsibility. Collaboration Across Fields: Merging different areas of expertise led to some of the most significant breakthroughs, proving that working together across disciplines is key to solving complex challenges. "Skunk Works" is a source of inspiration for me and shapes how I envision the future of Moravio. It's a reminder of the power of innovative thinking and teamwork.
