Share 3 actionable tips for excelling in the sports industry. 1️⃣ Be ready to work anywhere in the early years of your career in sports 🏢 In the first 5-7 years of my career, I went where the job was. My first internship in college was with the Inland Empire 66ers. I commuted half the time from my parent’s home in West Los Angeles for an hour just to work an unpaid internship. I drove, took the train and even stayed in some questionable motels after a long game night. After that internship, I had the pleasure to work the Midwest region for American Junior Golf Association, Atlanta for Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, New York City for Bleacher Report and Culver City for National Football League (NFL). While these are big cities, I knew practically no one in these companies before accepting the job, let alone not too many people in those cities. I was outside my comfort zone, but that’s sometimes what you need to grow as a person and professional. 2️⃣ Be A Sponge 🧽 I don’t literally mean be a sponge, but make sure to soak up the knowledge at whatever sports job you accept! You are working alongside very experienced sports professionals with more experience than you. Learn from them and make sure you’re humble along the way. Always ask questions and be ready to take lots of notes. You grow through the knowledge of people around you. 3️⃣ Make sure to network while working for that sports org 🫂 Once you land your foot in the sports industry “door”, make sure to spend time getting to know your co-workers and mentors. They could be very pivotal to landing your next job in the industry. You’re lucky to work for a sports org for more than 3 years, so make sure to get to know the people around you, especially the successful people. Jimmy Bligh helped me get my job with B/R. C.J. Toledano put in a good word for me at the NFL. My career took off from there. Make sure to “Build A Bridge. Maintain the Bridge. Don’t Burn the Bridge” 🌉 Get to know the people around you, keep in contact with them over the years and don’t do something to hurt the relationship. You never know where they will end up and you could need their help getting a job with that sports org. DM me for more actionable tips in sports! 📩 #LinkedInSportsChallenge

Solid tips. My job has brought me half way around the world.
