Last week I had the pleasure of attending an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace channel day hosted by Oliver Moss. A key takeaway I took from a round table discussion with Phil Soane was to look at marketplace as just another modernisation conversation - but instead of tech, it’s procurement. I’m increasingly excited to see the growth of our marketplace practice within Cloud Bridge, and as a cloud-first service provider, we’re perfectly positioned to help our customers realise the benefits of a new procurement channel. AWS re:Invent announcements. New AWS Reseller And Distributor Incentives And Benefits AWS introduced new benefits to help AWS resellers and distributors to up-level their resell capabilities, including a new Foundational Technical Review to help new partners adopt AWS best practices when reselling AWS services. Additionally, AWS unveiled a new Customer Engagement Incentive (CEI) with the addition of growth discounts to improve reseller profitability and reward AWS revenue growth from end customers in the early stages of AWS adoption.

🔸 AWS Marketplace announces the reduction and standardization of seller listing fees: ◾ Public subscriptions for software-as-a-service and AWS Data Exchange product types are reduced to 3%. ◾ AWS Marketplace private offer listing fees for software and data are reduced to between 1.5% and 3%. For deals under $1M TCV, there’s a 3% fee, for those equal to $1M and under $10M, a 2% fee, and for those equal or greater than $10M, a 1.5% fee. ◾ Listing fees associated with the renewal of private offers for software and data are 1.5%. ◾ Any listing fees not described above remain the same. This may explain why customer support is not Google’s forte For good and bad, companies are a reflection of their founders. These excerpts from the book “In the Plex” tell how Larry Page was not very fond of the idea of doing customer support and preferred focusing on delivering high quality products instead. So when I hear people saying that they prefer AWS customer support to GCP’s, I completely understand. Even when Google tries to do better in this area, they may not be as good at it because it was never part of their original DNA. But on the upside, perhaps this is also the reason why GCP is so much easier to use than AWS. If the aim is to talk to customers as least as possible, you better make extra sure the product can speak for itself! Ideally, it would be nice if you could have both the customer service and awesome user experience, that’s where the small cloud provider has found its niche, and why it’s worth exploring all cloud options available The book referenced is a little old now, it  but I totally recommend it (especially the chapter on China - it’s really wild and relevant to current events): https://lnkd.in/euNRkfS8
