We generally consider that a full-range VLCC operating on ammonia would not be commercially viable. However, operating the VLCC with a reduced range after conversion to either methanol or ammonia would allow all fuel tanks to be located on the deck, preserving the cargo space. The reduced range option for the VLCC is based on a trade route from the Persian Gulf to the Far East, which is relevant for this segment. As part of our look at #tanker market #risks for this year, published in this week’s BRS Tanker Weekly Newsletter, we discussed the ongoing potential for an #oil spill from a grey fleet tanker. We concluded that a spill could have a negative long-term impact on markets as it could lead to increased scrutiny on tankers at a time when the market is navigating the energy transition. This Newsletter was picked up by #Tradewinds, you can find the entire article here: https://lnkd.in/e77XgfR9 #BRSShipbrokers #Since1856 #tankers #shipping #maritime #energytransition
