A lot of future fuels noise in the maritime space breeds confusion. Recently I was fortunate to represent SGMF with Mark Bell and Claudia Beumer as the organization introduced safe handling and bunker guidelines for #ammonia and #methanol. The 5 A's provide a quick analysis on #future #fuels to find fact from fictional hope as an appraisal methodology to gain perspectives on #futurefuels. Let's perform a cursory examination of #ammonia, #hydrogen, and #methanol. Each of these fuels across well to wake #wtw today in #assignment green provides only a tiny fraction, far below one percent, of the #abundance energy required for maritime. These fuels also struggle with the remaining 5 A's; falling far short with poor showings on #availability, #affordability, and #aribtrage. UECC hoists Sail for Change initiative with new Titan supply deal. UECC has secured a major bunkering deal with Titan to source liquefied biomethane that will enable the company to reduce its GHG emissions by over 75,000 tonnes in 2025 – or around one-third of its annual direct emissions from vessel operations. Blue Star Helium Limited (ASX:BNL; OTCQB: BSNLF) has added very high-grade carbon dioxide (CO2) to its industrial gas portfolio by increasing its stake in the Serenity project to 100% at zero cash or scrip outlay. The development of Serenity will enable Blue Star to deliver a valuable additional gas product to end-users in critical but under-supplied markets. It also aligns with Blue Star’s planned co-production of premium CO2 at Galactica/Pegasus along with high-grade helium. US merchant CO2 demand is ~10.4 million tons per year, with annual demand growth forecast at 3.6%-5.0% through to 2030. Another good Step in Ontario regarding CCUS - Geologic Carbon Storage Act. If passed, would enable the regulation of commercial-scale geologic carbon storage which involves injecting captured CO2.
