It is near the end of #inclusionweek. Not too long ago, I read an article in which the author (Cloey Callahan) asserted that DE&I has evolved into DEIB with the “B” representing belonging. Many companies recognize the importance of diversity as compiled by a variety of voices, the equitable distribution of representation to said voices, and the inclusion of voices representing all peoples. However, many companies have not adopted this evolved concept. Belonging is just one step further. If inclusion is making sure everyone has a seat at the table, then belonging is making sure that, while at the table, everyone is heard and valued. I am both very proud and very grateful to work for a company that has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. AUS goes the extra mile to instill a sense of belonging in its employees. I recently stumbled upon a post of a senior bank employee in the USA celebrating their jubilee working with the bank and their Employer celebrating the same. It struck to me really odd that why in our country , we cannot retain best of the best. Why employers, organizations don't take ownership and pride in their employees as much as they value their customers. This quote is literally what is to be expected of an employer anywhere. It is the humans that drive organizations to success. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING in the world can substitute an experience that only comes with time and that level of diligence. #employeeappreciation #organizationalsuccess #retention

A bold move on the chessboard of diversity recruitment 🎯. The CEO of a leading insurance company in the UK 🇬🇧 has declared a check on the hiring of senior roles – until she signs off on them, no non-diverse hires are to be made ✋. The aim? Enhancing diversity and inclusion within the organisation 🌈. Some might view this as outright discrimination (there are quite a few articles reporting it this way, have a Google). But let's spin the lens a bit. This is about correcting an imbalance, which in itself is a long-standing form of discrimination. It's about giving a fair shot to those who have been side-lined, not about side-lining others. While it's a daring and debatable approach, it’s a wake-up call to the industry ⏰. Perhaps it's time we all looked hard at our recruitment practices and asked ourselves – are we truly promoting diversity? Are we providing equal opportunities? More news about #DEI downsizing. At I&D 101 we don't view this as a failure of DEI, but rather as a #deistrategy failure. Building large DEI teams “sitting to the side of a core business function” is a doomed strategy. Just as HSE teams don't sit adjacent to the core business function - they are a critical, integrated part of it - DEI should be a critical, integrated part of the overall business strategy.
