As kids, we often dream of grand careers without fully understanding what they entail. For me, the dream was to become a pilot, or better yet, to join the Indian Air Force. This ambition wasn’t something I was taught; it was an innate desire that grew stronger over time.
The moment that truly ignited my passion was my first flight experience and it was with IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd). The thrill, the view from above, and the sheer magic of being airborne solidified my resolution—I knew then that I wanted to be a pilot, no matter what. Despite my long-standing aversion to mathematics, I began excelling in both physics and math, knowing they were crucial stepping stones toward my goal.
However, when the time came to apply for pilot training programs, I was faced with a harsh reality. Even for government training, the cost was around ₹30-35 lakhs—a sum far beyond what I could afford. Determined not to let this obstacle stop me, I shifted my focus to the National Defense Academy (NDA) as a pathway to the Indian Air Force.
I dedicated a year to intense preparation, even joining the cadet corps. But as I pushed myself physically, my weight frame began to struggle under the demands of the training. Each session left me more demotivated, and gradually, the fire that once fueled my ambition began to fade.
This marked the beginning of my journey through the ups and downs of career planning as a teenager—a journey I will continue to share in my next post.
Investing in the future, well done 2Excel....
