Murderball is relentless. Once a player has the ball, the shot-clock starts counting down; they have just 40 seconds to fight their way through the opposing side and drive it through the goalposts at the end of the court. This is easier said than done – wheelchair rugby, as it is now known, is a notoriously high-contact sport, and the blunt impact of wheelchair ramming wheelchair echoes non-stop through the arena. Both teams have a lot riding on this match. The US, which historically dominated the sport since its rough beginnings in the 1970s, hasn't won gold since 2008, with a bronze and three silvers since then only sharpening their frustration. For Japan, this is the first time they've made it to the finals, and their team has only been getting stronger since they won bronze two Games running. Paris is co-captain Chuck Aoki's fourth Paralympics. Speaking to reporters after the game, he said he had been moved by the raucous crowds that packed the stadiums across Paris throughout the Games. How to Legally Bet the 2024 Paris Olympics Online. Euro 2024 is in the books, but another massive global event will get underway in western Europe in less than 10 days. The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics begin on Wednesday, July 24, when a number of soccer and rugby sevens matches will kick off this year's Games. Two days later, the highly anticipated Opening Ceremony will take place on the Seine River. This year's Olympics slate, which will conclude on Sunday, August 11, features 32 sports, including four non-traditional ones: skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing and breaking (break dancing). The sports that typically draw the most viewership are basketball, track and field ( especially the short-distance events), gymnastics, swimming and volleyball. Those sports also figure to be the most popular among bettors, with plenty of eyes on the hardwood, where LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant lead a loaded Team USA. While Team USA is the heavy favorite, it will face serious competition in a field full of NBA talent. The likes of Canada (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray), France (Victor Wembanyama, Rudy Gobert) and Serbia (Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic) all boast legit stars, and Giannis Antetokounmpo alone makes Greece, which had to go through Luka Doncic's Slovenia to qualify for the Paris Games, another interesting threat. #igaming #igambling #onlinesportsbetting #onlinegambling #ndoglobal #bullgrazing

🏋️♂️♿How Brazil became a Paralympic power As the Paris Paralympic Games come to a close, Brazil emerged stronger than ever, securing its best result in history and solidifying its position as a global leader in parasports. With a haul of 25 golds, 26 silvers, and 38 bronzes, Brazil finished fifth in the medal standings, further building on its legacy of athletic excellence since breaking into the top 10 at the 2008 Beijing Games. This year’s result cements Brazil’s reputation as a global powerhouse in Paralympic sports, particularly track and field and swimming. The Brazil Team put up a performance that almost surpassed the most optimistic projections of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) ahead of Paris. The CPB believed the country would win between 70 and 90 medals, with some experts predicting a top 5 finish. Brazil's consistent presence at the top of the parasports rankings is largely the result of long-term public policies. The establishment of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee in 1995, followed by federal funding mechanisms for sports committees and individual athletes in the 2000s, helped fuel the country's rise, as previously reported by The Brazilian Report. 🔗Read more in our full article by Isabela Cruz here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dkVmnwXm #Paralympic #Sports #Brazil #Paris2024

Paralympics has evolved and come a long way since its inception 76 years ago but it still has interesting quirks, some of which are understandable whilst others not so much: 🌟 Para-judo is reserved only for the visually impaired whilst para-taekwondo is for athletes with upper-limb disabilities 🌟 There is wheelchair rugby, tennis, table-tennis and more but not wheelchair volleyball and it is played as "sitting volleyball", where athletes have to sit on the floor and manouvre 🌟 Why can't athletes with intellectual impairments, compete in sports categories outside of para-athletics, para-swimming & para-table tennis 🌟 There is no weightlifting in the Paralympics but there is powerlifting, which is pretty much a horizontal affair, where athletes are bench-pressing 🌟 The basketball ball hoop is 3.05m from the ground, in both able-bodied and Para-basketball. 🌟 Lastly, no prostheses are allowed in para-swimming Have you come across any para-quirks, but have been shy to question or write about it? Each day I spend at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, I discover something new but what remains constant, is the competitive and fair play spirit of these living miracles called Paralympians 👌

European Para Championships receives extended patronage from European Paralympic Committee The European Paralympic Committee has renewed its patronage to the European Para Championships, providing crucial support in various capacities. This support includes the endorsement of the Games stamp, facilitating communication with European Paralympic Committee members, and contributing to the ongoing development of the European Para Championships across the continent. The shared goal is to host the European Para Championships every four years. Leveraging its affiliations with the International Paralympic Committee and the European Union, the European Paralympic Committee will actively promote the expansion and enhancement of the European Para Championships, not only in upcoming cycles but at least until the 2035 edition. Presently encompassing 10 sports, both the European Paralympic Committee and European Para Championships management envision a broader horizon for the Championships. Aspiring to welcome additional International Federations, if feasible within the concept, in subsequent editions in 2027, 2031, 2035, and beyond. The 2024 Paris Olympics/Paralympics captured our imagination … and Australia's highlights were nothing short of inspiring: • Jess Fox cementing her legacy as the most successful paddler in kayaking/canoeing history, bringing home two Gold medals • Alexa Leary’s stunning performance to win the Women's 100m freestyle S9 in world record time • Caitlin Parker making history as the first Australian woman to win an Olympic boxing medal in the W75kg category • Lauren Parker achieving a remarkable feat as Australia's first dual-sport Paralympic medallist in 44 years, securing Gold in the Paratriathlon and Women's road race H14 and Silver in the H13 individual time trial ... and there are many, many more examples on the highlights reel. … and ‘Yes’ - the medals are cause for celebration, but the real magic lies in how sport inspires; creates community, a sense of belonging, resilience, self-confidence; and forges friendships and cherished memories. So, it’s no surprise that every Olympic/Paralympic Games sparks a surge of interest in sports participation. But the real challenge for Australia’s 400+ participation sports - especially those outside the mainstream like paddling, rock climbing, lacrosse (set to debut in the 2028 LA Games) - is how to maintain and capitalize on this momentum. Well, it starts with getting noticed … and how do you do that … talk to a good marketer! #sportsmarketing #branding #brandbuilding
