With the wide variety of Access Points available, it can be really hard to choose the right access points (APs) for your network deployment. If your goals are clear however, then it is actually a cake walk. Just keep these things in mind - security, coverage and performance. Once these are clear in your head, all you need to do is answer the following 8 points and you are done. Allow me to elaborate them: 1. Determine the coverage area that requires wireless coverage. Larger areas will require more access points for consistent coverage and performance as compared to smaller areas. 2. Consider the number of users and devices that will connect to that network. Higher density areas require more access points for everyone to connect, work and participate. 3. Network bandwidth and throughput are important to consider. For video streaming and large file transfers you must have access points with higher data rates and throughput capabilities. 4. Signal attenuation is often a concern for spaces that have more dense materials like concrete and metal. In such a case, you will need more access points along or specialised antennas. 5. Employees often move from one space to another within premises. Which is why you need strategically placed access points across the area to ensure seamless and uninterrupted connection. 6. Assess the security needs of the network, including access points, authentication methods and encryption protocols. Go for the access points that offer robust security against threats and breaches. 7. Scalability and management capabilities are never to be overlooked. The access points should be scalable as your business grows and also offer centralized management tools and firmware updates. 8.Last but not the least, look into your budget thoroughly. Analyse all the options available, match them with your requirements such as performance, coverage, etc. and pick the one that does not break the bank. Access points are really important to ensure smooth and seamless work. These pointers will empower you to choose the right ones for your business. The key lies in evaluating the factors clearly. I believe you will make the right choice and create a reliable, high performance network infrastructure. #Accesspoint #wifi

As dependency on wireless WAN grows ( over 90% of Australian businesses say they currently use cellular connectivity as part of their business!) IT leaders must be prepared to adjust to the types of traffic — and the sheer volume of it — travelling through their networks. To safely and securely make this adjustment, IT leaders must invest in a combination of the latest software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) and security technologies to ensure their wireless WANs can grow efficiently at scale.
Today's IT leaders can benefit from a combined SD-WAN/SASE solution

📍when it comes to the difference between a WiFi router and an access point, here are 5 key points to consider: 1. Function: A WiFi router combines the functions of a router, a wireless access point, and often a modem, allowing you to connect multiple devices to the internet. An access point, on the other hand, is a device that extends the range and coverage of an existing network. 2. Network Management: A WiFi router typically manages the network, assigns IP addresses, and provides firewall and security features. An access point, however, relies on an existing network to handle these tasks.3. Connectivity: A WiFi router usually has multiple Ethernet ports for wired connections, along with wireless capabilities. An access point primarily provides wireless connectivity and may have fewer or no Ethernet ports.4. Coverage: WiFi routers are designed to cover a larger area, providing WiFi signals throughout your home or office. Access points are used to extend the coverage of an existing network to areas with weak or no WiFi signals. 5. Configuration: WiFi routers are typically easier to set up, as they handle all aspects of network management. Access points may require additional configuration and need

Is your business suffering from slow internet speeds? It is a very common problem to overcome and we have seen many cases of this over the years. Get ahead of the checks you are likely going to need to run if you have to reach out to your ISP and follow these quick 5-tips to help identify and resolve this problem. 1. It Could Be External to You The issue might not even be on your network. Check downdetector.co.uk for a list of many commonly used public platforms to ensure there is not an ongoing service issue - They very quickly report an influx of reports against a platform with easily visible graphs. 2. Speedtest Whilst a speedtest tends to measure only a few hops past your gateway, it will still give a clear indication of a problem. It could still indicate a host problem so get a few run from different people in the business. If a single user is experiencing the problem, it is probably a good idea to health their device including firmware upgrades. 3. How are you connected? Wired or Wireless? Is this speed issue only impacting your wireless users? Again a very clear indicator of where to focus your efforts. If the issue exists across both wired and wireless, look further along the network path. 4. Reboot Router Something that will need to be arranged outside of hours, unless you have a highly-available setup and can fail your internet service over (see point 5). A reboot will clear any stuck or stale sessions that could be causing your problem and appease your ISP when they inevitably ask for this task to be completed. 5. ISP Firstly, if you have not found a possible culprit, then it is probably time to contact your ISP. If you are running a highly-available setup you should fail your service over to your secondary ISP. If now your slowness has vanished, it is likely a primary ISP problem. If the problem persists, we would continue further internal checks. 6. Bonus - Check Hops to Network Edge From a host device, trace the connection taken out to the internet and check your switch ports and trunks for any CRC or input errors. Check the routes to ensure the best path is taken with optimised routing. Check your link utilisation and ensure no saturation of transit connections. We hope that the above will help users or IT admins overcome some of their speed problems. If you are completely stuck still or what to discuss any of the points above in more detail, please reach out to us for a no-cost 30-minute consultation. We will happily provide some more focused information based on your very specific problem.
