We just published our 2023 financial figures and I’m very happy that, on an adjusted basis and excluding the exceptional charges from the Geared Turbofan fleet management plan, we grew revenue across the OEM, MRO and Military business segments last year. We also have very strong prospects moving forward. As demonstrated by the orders at the Singapore Airshow last week, where purchase decisions for GTF and GEnx engines resulted in over 500 million US dollars in orders for MTU Aero Engines.    Our order backlog was €24.4 billion at year-end 2023, compared with €22.3 billion at year-end 2022. The majority of orders are for the PW1100G-JM, and the V2500, which is equivalent to more than three years’ capacity and underscores our good market position. I stumbled on the publication about the tail strike incident with Air France A 350 in January 2024. The repair by the Airbus team took four and half months, and a few days ago the Aircraft was ferried to Paris.  I have a couple of questions: - Without doubting the advantages of composite technology for producing structural parts and their advantages in operation, did Airbus study the risks and requirements for technologies of repair of extensive structural damages? - Have these technologies found a place in SRM and guidance for MROs certified to maintain and repair these new Aircraft types? - How far has the Commercial Aircraft Composite Repair Committee progressed with the transfer of their technologies and procedures for large composite repairs to MROs?  - Or every time an incident happens, it should be a special mission by the Airbus/Boing team (like with the Ethiopian B787 back in 2013 )? - Is it a sign of OEMs' aspirations to establish a significant footprint in the MRO services? - Do Airlines operating new-generation aircraft have contingency plans for such occurrences? #OEM #MRO #Compositerepairs #CACRC #Aircraft

Pratt & Whitney Canada has announced a new, cost-effective P&WCSMART military overhaul program developed specifically for military customers flying Bell Flight 212 and Bell 412 helicopters with PT6T-3 or PT6T-6 Twinpac engines. Pratt & Whitney is an RTX business. “Our P&WCSMART portfolio was developed to assist customers flying mature engines, in many cases requiring an overhaul,” said Irene Makris, vice president of customer service at Pratt & Whitney Canada. “This new P&WCSMART military program for PT6T-3/6 engines on military fleets takes into consideration the mission and environment of military customers by offering overhaul costs that are predictable, allowing our customers to accurately budget for their engine maintenance costs.” Pratt & Whitney Canada’s portfolio of P&WCSMART MRO solutions deliver original equipment manufacturer (OEM) value and genuine P&WC parts and services. The P&WCSMART program work is conducted through the company’s Global Service Network and comes with an OEM-level warrantee on parts and labor. Pratt & Whitney Canada engines have achieved more than one billion hours of flight across the entire fleet since the introduction of the PT6 in 1963. The importance of having a national Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (#MRO) facility: #LogisticalEfficiency Streamlined Processes: Local MRO capabilities streamline logistics, enabling faster turnaround times for repairs and maintenance. #SupplyChainResilience: Having MRO facilities in-country strengthens the military supply chain, making it more resilient to disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions or global supply chain issues.

In addition to maintenance and repair services on and off the ship, this includes for example the supply of spare parts, assistance with diagnostics as well as overhauls. Boeing Q2 Loss Sharply Widens, Misses Estimates Boeing Co. (BA) reported on Wednesday a net loss for the second quarter that sharply widened from last year, reflecting a 15 percent revenue decline amid lower commercial delivery volumes, and losses on fixed-price defense development programs. Core loss per share came in well below analysts' expectations and quarterly revenues also missed it. For the second quarter, the Chicago-based aerospace and defense giant reported that net loss attributable to shareholders sharply widened to $1.44 billion or $2.33 per share from $149 million or $0.25 per share in the prior-year quarter.
