This is what a mentor can do for you. Let's take a look at how you can assess your professional needs and identify a potential mentor. Your goals don't end once you land a management role. They expand. And you will want and need additional support throughout your management journey. My favorite quote is, begin with the end in mind. To begin assessing your professional needs, visualize where you want to be in the next one, two, or three years. Do you want to improve your presentation or public speaking skills? Do you want to lead a bigger team? If so, how many people? 50, 100, more than 200? Do you want to be promoted to an executive role such as director or CEO?
