- [Instructor] Up until now, we've been working either with mobile apps or primarily in the Power BI service, which is browser-based. This is a different creature. This is Power BI Desktop, a freestanding application of its own that you download and install on your computer. Power BI Desktop duplicates some of the functionality that we already know how to use. For example, we can use Power BI Services to create reports, but we can also use Power BI Desktop. Here's our report Canvas with many of the same tools, but with a nifty ribbon across the top. I'm not going to show you everything that you need to know about Power BI Desktop, but there are four reasons that I believe you should download and use this tool, even if you are primarily a user of Power BI Services.
