- Think about causes that are important to you. When choosing an organization to donate to, what are some of the characteristics you're looking for? Maybe it's cancer research, helping animals, or feeding the hungry. Whatever the cause, great fundraising begins with a mission that is driven by a compelling message and sustained through meaningful relationships. As a fundraiser, I'm sure you can agree with that. Developing sustainable, meaningful relationships is what cause selling is all about. But what is cause selling, exactly? It's the process of seeking out potential donors who have a need, interest, and passion for your cause, assisting them to recognize and define that need, showing them how your cause fulfills that need, and inspiring them to donate.
